I worked at Rocky Mountain Chocolate part-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

I enjoyed the flexibility in schedule. My store manager was great at keeping a high morale in the workplace.

    Cons

Sometimes dealing with people can be difficult, but that is usually the con associated with customer service in general.

    Advice to Management

No advice. But I did feel bad about seeing waste in corporate stores. I understand the need to keep the look of the store "pristine," but at what cost?

Former Employee - Anonymous Employee in Vancouver, BC (Canada)

    Pros

Leanring about pastry arts and chocolate (if you like it)
Great experience when dealing with customers
Sales vocabulary is extended, polite and refined
Lots of freedom to create new product
Taking breaks whenever was needed and not so busy
    Excellent coworkers

    Cons

Difficult to fill this part since each store is individually owned. The owners of the store I worked at were amazing people, very fun and extremelly engaged with their business. However they would expect too much from me, giving me unreasonable demands and time frames. Very disorganized people, wanted everybody to be as involved in their business as they were and would not pay what they were asking for. Worked there for a long while and was overworked and way too underpaid.

    Advice to Management

More organization when it comes to cooking and high volume seasons. Pay your employees the same way you expect them to do the job or they will lose interest and will feel underappreaciated. Good experience overall though.

    Pros

Good place to learn retail, standards

    Cons

privately owned, and management doesn't listen to franchisees. Lots of waste from head office, poor decisions that are costly and make no sense.

    Advice to Management

Listen to franchisees, they know their business and customers.
