I have been working at Roehl Transport for more than a year

    Pros

This company, like most others, talks a lot about safety. The big difference is this company means it! If you don't feel safe on the road, stop. Call or message your F/M and tell them the circumstances and then kick back and relax until it's safe to drive again. No problem. CR England is just the opposite. The company says to be safe, but your F/M will threaten to quit loading you if you stop because the roads are bad.

    Cons

The people in Safety don't realize they're easier to replace than a good driver. I had a car merging onto the highway behind me... and he hit my trailer. There were no marks or damage to me... but the creep from Safety seemed to want me to admit to hitting the car that was merging. She really seemed to be working for the other side. At any rate, I was innocent of any wrong doing, I wasn't cited, and I admitted to nothing wrong because I was innocent! The insurance is lousy, like most. The 401(k) has no company match.

    Advice to Management

Stick with E. Roehl's vision of a great family owned company. Except for the Safety Dept., I have NOTHING NEGATIVE to say about Roehl. I hope that someday I get the chance to shake hands with Rick, and express my thanks.

I have been working at Roehl Transport for less than a year

    Pros

If you're halfway decent you will get your cdl class a

    Cons

The instructors are resume discourteous have minimal people skills and are some of the most disrespectful people that I have ever met in my life (not joking) ifbi wasn't already soo heavily invested by the time I got there I would've walked away and I'm still on the fence about "phase two"

    Advice to Management

Have people skills seminars or CLEAN HOUSE

I have been working at Roehl Transport full-time for less than a year

    Pros

Paid rental car and hotel accommodation during orientation and $10.00 meal ticket for breakfast or dinner. Not to mention, nice equipment.

    Cons

They don't pay their professional truck drivers on time or if ever at all. Constantly disputing your weekly pay, period . They are in the business to pick up and drop trailers, daily, for FREE and see no wrong, as to why they don't pay their professional truck drivers. After my fourth load my paycheck says ZERO net pay. I called my driver manager and asked "where's my paycheck"? Response, call your driver manager. Nothing but a BIG SPIN AT ROEHL TRANSPORT INC & nobody seems to know nothing when it comes to payroll. This is by far the worst trucking company and such a waste of time last five (5) weeks of he'll and basically worked for FREE with ZERO NET PAY. Thank you Roehl Transport for ZERO NET PAY!

    Cons

I told them i would redo a test immediately and they said no. There is no way i failed. I got another job less than a week later did the test and passed so the test is not valid!!! Also the pay and home time is not good as well.

I worked at Roehl Transport for more than 3 years

    Pros

Their equipment is pretty good, their support system is fairly decent. There was never a harsh word between the management and me.

    Cons

The thing is drivers who work there need to beware. I was involved in an accident while driving for Roehl, it was not my fault, I was not cited and there was absolutely nothing I could have done to prevent this accident. The roads were covered with ice and snow, I was driving way under the speed limit for safety purposes, I already was allowing plenty of space in front of me. There was nothing I could have possibly done to prevent this accidents. It was put on my DAC report as a preventable accident. I spoke with their safety department and confronted them about the situation. The safety official on his end of the phone, looked at my file and eventually agreed with me that there was nothing I could have done to actually prevent this situation. However they refused to change it. If you are in an accident while working for real they will hold you responsible for it. It has nothing to do with whether or not you were at fault or whether or not you could have honestly prevented it. In this respect they are not very nice people. And I cannot recommend their company. I have now been rejected by three companies that I was trying to go to work for because I have a preventable accident on my DAC report. I was slandered. And I do not appreciate it

    Advice to Management

Stop slandering people. I did nothing wrong to you people. There was nothing I could have done to prevent the accident I was in. For what it's worth, when I realized the roads were very slippery, I tried to get off the road period I tried to pull into a service plaza on the turn pike but all the parking spots were taken. When the find the other driver caused the accident I was only on my way to the rail terminal in Gary to shut down. There was absolutely nothing I could have done to prevent this accident. Yeah you people still put it on me as a preventable. This is slander.

I have been working at Roehl Transport full-time for more than a year

    Pros

Paid CDL training, decent benefits, newer equipment (less than 4yrs. Old), 24hr dispatch , always a load somewhere. Good OTR hometime- (10/2, 11/3, 18/4, 24/5, 30/6, 36+/7)

    Cons

Night and weekend dispatch is terrible, insurance costs are expensive, forced dispatch company, inconsistent miles- one week you might get 2100 miles and the next you might get 3700 miles, once you get to over $.40/mile they try to limit your pay by cutting down your miles, constant fight to get 3000+ miles per week. Many of the planners and fleet managers don't seem to know or care about you or their jobs. Many loads are already late by the time they are dispatched to you or they have an outrageous amount of time on them that you will be sitting waiting to deliver or pick up.

    Advice to Management

Have your fm's and planners learn how to run drivers harder with less time sitting on loads, stop trying to limit drivers income, find cheaper insurance rates, work on employee/driver retention so this place isn't such a revolving door.
