      Pros

Paid CDL training, decent benefits, newer equipment (less than 4yrs. Old), 24hr dispatch , always a load somewhere. Good OTR hometime- (10/2, 11/3, 18/4, 24/5, 30/6, 36+/7)

      Cons

Night and weekend dispatch is terrible, insurance costs are expensive, forced dispatch company, inconsistent miles- one week you might get 2100 miles and the next you might get 3700 miles, once you get to over $.40/mile they try to limit your pay by cutting down your miles, constant fight to get 3000+ miles per week. Many of the planners and fleet managers don't seem to know or care about you or their jobs. Many loads are already late by the time they are dispatched to you or they have an outrageous amount of time on them that you will be sitting waiting to deliver or pick up.

          Pros

Roehl’s training is among the best. You get paid while you’re trained in their get your CDL program. The instructors actually care about your progress and will bend over backwards to help you. It is a very fast program so you have to be a fast learner. You’re on the hook for $7k so you need to be sure you can do the job for over a year. I was a van national driver for 15 months and was very happy with my miles and paychecks. If you show your fleet manager you are reliable and manage your time you will get the good loads. I was home very consistently on day 12 or 13 and always got 3 days off. It was so consistent I could plan events around when I would get home without even checking with my fleet manager. ( although you should let them know if you have something important you need to be home for)

          Cons

The starting pay is decent but it caps out fairly low. It’s a good company for starting but may not be for the long run. The equipment is well taken care of but you’ll get the base model tractor without many features. No refrigerators, no standard inverter. If you want an inverter installed you have to pay for one of theirs and it will only run for 2 hours until it is off for 10.

          Thank you for the feedback.

            Pros

Great overall training to get your CDL but that's where it ends.

            Cons

Spent a few weeks on the road with a trainer who didn't train much with hands on. Got through testing and was placed with a truck that was not good. Sent to major cities ie Dallas NY Charlotte Memphis St Louis St Paul all while being a rookie in my first weeks 'set up to fail'. Got a whole $800 check for 70hrs and major stress. Was up against very though maneuvering backing tight city roads that wasn't taught. You'd think they would teach close quarters training before throwing you to the wolves but not the case. I believe now the this company is all about getting Veterans and numbers to line their pockets. Why else would they have 17 people per class per week graduate at multiple locations? Add to the fact that my fleet manager Dave wasn't helpful at all and we hardly spoke. What a s show.

Roehl drivers are leaders in safety, productivity, and pay, and one of Roehl’s values is Driver Driven – that means Roehl drivers lead the way. Roehl’s training is arguably the best in the trucking industry, and there are so, so many people to help drivers achieve success.

              Pros

Roehl has the best training in the industry. Great job opportunities. I started as a driver for Roehl and ended up working my way up to a Fleet manager position. Roehl does care about there drivers. Most people that have negative things to say on here didn't take the time to research what being a truck driver is all about and/or could not cumite to Roehl values. Roehl was probably the best place I have ever worked.

              Cons

Being a driver takes away from family life. Make sure you know what your getting into. Have a good foundation at home for when your not their.

Thanks so much for taking the time to leave us your feedback. We truly appreciate you sharing your experience with TeamRoehl!

Training was good theybreally work with you if you are struggling in certain aspects They will give you a trainer possibly 1 on 1 if you really need help with shifting, backing etc

                Cons

Fleet managers need to be more intune with the people that they are working with.

Hello. I’m sorry your experience didn’t match what you were expecting. We have a series of videos that describe the “keys to success” and our program really is designed to help new drivers be successful – because when invest so much in our teammates, we really want you to be thrive! When you were going through our Get Your CDL Program, you had the very best training in trucking, and you got paid while you were learning. After you started doing the job, you had a Fleet Training Manager – their jobs are specifically created to work with new-to-driving teammates to help them succeed. Once you had your own Fleet Manager, her or she would have been very willing to work with you to continue to develop your skills. As you noted, your training was really good, and I hope you’ll use that to Drive the Roehl Way.

                  Pros

My fellow fleet managers are always willing to jump in and help regardless of what zip code they are in. Executive leadership looks for high performers and rewards them as well as offers opportunities for personal and career growth. Positive atmosphere. Open door policy with upper management, everyone is friendly and approachable. The culture is infectious and I enjoy every day at work. We meet regularly at our specific terminals to work on ways to get better and help our drivers be more successful. I admire how involved Rick Roehl and all of the upper management is in improving our processes and making changes to promote driver success. No comment or concern ever falls on deaf ears.

                  Cons

There are always ways a company can improve. Nothing major stands out, however if I do have concerns see above open door policy.

Pay is decent for a starter company Safety focused Great benefits

                    Cons

This place is the definition of micromanagement Fleet managers are constantly calling harassing drivers and causing them to worry and fear of losing their job.

Hello, thank you for being a member of our team. Micromanaging comes up a lot in reviews, and that’s often because our company is so focused on values. And not just safety – which is our cornerstone value. We also value being Driver Driven and Delivering Success (for our customers and teammates). Rest assured, it’s not something people are doing to be mean or annoying. So if you are getting a lot of coaching events it’s really because we want you to be successful and of course safe. If you have not already done so, please talk to your fleet manager to develop a plan for your success. Your FM wants you to be a million mile safe driver – like so many of our other driving teammates.

Free laundry at several terminals. 50% drop and hooks. I encountered three people in the Compant that I felt cared about us. Nobody else did.

                        Cons

Disorganized management with no concern for the drivers. A lot of wasted time. Frequently searching for empty trailers, frequently sent to customers that are closed or without necessary numbers just to be turned away, required me to leave on recaps 3 hours before my 34 hour reset completed, poor communication - frequently ignore messages. Long hold times when calling in. Night dispatch not capable of handling problems. Trucks frequently in the shop and problems recur - don’t get fixed properly. Must work continually to make any money. $40,000 per year max for 70+ hours per week. I was never late, always left as soon as my breaks were over (unless I couldn’t). Really it was an awful experience. Career opportunities only rated three stars because fleet managers were constantly leaving also and there are always job postings. Turnover is high.

Hello, I'm sorry your experience didn't meet your expectations, and I encourage you to communicate through your chain of leadership so it can improve! I'm going to callout one of things you said: the part about no one at Roehl caring about our driving teammates. We put Driver Success on our Wall of Values, and non-driving teammates go through Driver Success training. Most Roehl teammates understand that Safety is our Cornerstone Value, and not far behind that is Driver Success - truly a core value. If I can be of any help, please feel free to contact me at lucas.heart@roehl.net

Gave two interviews recently and got a feedback that I wasn’t able to explain my role as effectively, because of which I won’t be able to transition as fast into a fast-paced environment. I have worked in one small firm and one small-mid firm, and I personally feel I am ready to take up more responsibilities and move to a bigger firm for more exposure. Not sure how else I can explain my roles effectively, even after walking them through everything, how am I supposed to utilise this feedback?

Im really interested in applying for Walmart but I'm not interested in the bs that comes along with it. Especially when nowadays the difference between poverty & not living on the streets is a full-time job (If you're lucky) 🥴🥴

What are hiring managers looking for?? I have had so many interviews and have not gotten the job! I have literally had the people I’ve interviewed with tell me that I was a shoo in for the job, invite me to tour the facilities, and give incredibly positive feedback but I haven’t gotten the jobs. I’m so frustrated because I need to get out of my current job situation asap but have had ZERO luck.
