I have been working at Roger Williams Medical Center full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Networking, one great co-worker who was able to comprehend the culture and became my refuge.

    Cons

    Advice to Management

Leadership ship support is the greatest downfall,

I worked at Roger Williams Medical Center (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Fair pay and employee appreciation dinner after 5 years of service.

    Cons

Fair pay only to lose in paying high benefits. Great place to work if you have no integrity. No room for growth, Job title does not jive with job description. New CEO, doesn’t hurt to say hello to the employees. Ratings are negative across the border, was the worst experience in the past 3 years. No respect for loyal employees.

    Advice to Management

Tops complaints: Communication improvement within most departments, allow room for growth, respect your employees, higher employees with experience, take action when employees have issues.

    Pros

critical care nursing is one of the most challenging experiences in nursing. The critical care nurse is proficient in the care of medical, surgical patients at every critical level. Icu is also responsible for the care of the most critically ill oncology patients including but not limited to bone marrow transplants, as RWMC has the only bone marrow transplant unit in RI.

    Cons

Staffing is always an issue and sometimes nurses have difficulty managing patients in the way we feel is necessary for their optimum care. Ancillary staff is always inadequate.

    Advice to Management

Managers most often do not listen to the vital concerns of staff members. Perhaps they are limited to the constraints of the administration, but communication is severely lacking on all levels.

    Pros

Work with a good team of people, most who seem to really care about their positions and work extremely hard despite being under staffed. Also most of my co-workers are vert knowledgable.

    Cons

Communication is terrible. Most of the time the three components that make up the IT Dept don't know what the other is working on.

    Advice to Management

Treat all workers with the same level of respect. While senior management seems to do this the a lot doctors treat support staff terribly

    Pros

    Friendly coworkers, hospital remodeling, teamwork

    Cons

Pay is too little, some part of the hospital needs repair, no elevator and have to walk up flights of stairs.

    Advice to Management

Search salaries in similar jobs to pay at the going rate.

I worked at Roger Williams Medical Center full-time

    Pros

After moving to a hospital in a bigger city I can appreciate certain things about RWMC, like their great maintenance and janitorial staff, the food and service at the cafeteria (and the price). Really a nice small-town vibe there.

    Cons

Dumpy neighborhood, like most hospitals. Salaries are lower, but then again so is the cost of living. Lots of backdoor politics: you never know who's going to buy you up and whose job is secure.

    Advice to Management

My experience with management was limited, due to the fact that our lab was sort of an independent entity there at the hospital.
