I have been working at Rogers Corporation full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

There are some really great people at Rogers Corporation. Interesting projects to work on. Not very rule oriented so you are free to do what you need to.

    Cons

The company is becoming extremely political. It's a shame that the Executive team is ran as some kind of weird fraternity. The Human Resources and IT departments are completely dysfunctional. Finance is close behind, but recent changes show hope.

    Advice to Management

CEO - open your eyes and look closely at your executive team. Not all is what it seems.

I have been working at Rogers Corporation full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Knowledge retained through longer term employees
Work with some very smart people who are dedicated to what they are doing
    Benefit offerings are very generous
Beginning to obtain more targeted hires of some strategic managers in the past year +
    Good work/life balance

    Cons

Consistency is a big problem with policy enforcement and program distribution.
Subject-matter experts/managers/leaders often have others outside their area of expertise weigh in on their approaches to running their business. Not all recent new employees and managers are not used to their level of knowledge. Need to employer the people here.
Not nibble with decision making. Employees feel they need to have their opinion heard which weighs down getting decisions made.
Company culture at the corporate level tends to be negative.
Senior staff need to lead better to help the staff under them understand where the departments going and what is most important and what the priorities are.
Internal systems very outdated and not competitive, but Rogers is moving in the right direction.
Employee growth & development at Corporate are not priorities for the majority.

    Advice to Management

Need stronger leadership to help set priorities and communicate clearly what remains as a priority.

    Pros

The top management of my division and my direct supervisor were the best I've encountered. Very much engaged and supportive of their people. They appreciated my contribution and rewarded it generously.

    Cons

The most toxic corporate culture I've ever seen. The hourly peoples' union is militantly anti-management and encourages openly contemptuous treatment of anyone in a professional position. Also, many in the R&D department regard anyone involved in manufacturing as little better than a trained monkey. Upper management seems to have a flawed grasp of business principles and has pursued several disastrous acquisitions. Bob Wachob makes no secret of his distaste for the manufacturing side of the business.

    Advice to Management

Get over yourselves. You don't walk on water. There's too much arrogance in the corporate culture that needs to be toned down.

    Pros

If you dislike accountability, if you are an expert in political manouvering, this may be your company.

    Cons

Most of Sr management and executive leadership team never worked for any other company and have no clue on best practices (for any discipline). Some middle manager learn their trade by reading texts. Company survives through waste and missed opportunites by charging a premium for their products.

    Advice to Management

Shed most of dinosaurs, instill discipline, focus, and innovative spirit before it is too late.

    Pros

Innovative company with lots of potential.

    Cons

Old school management - who doesn't leave their office or interact with employees. HR department leadership is TERRIBLE.

    Advice to Management

Find a real HR VP and implement some grass roots efforts to communicate to your staff. Consider moving the Connecticut location to Arizona - less union garbage and more innovation. For a company with so many great inventions, it acts really old.
