I worked at Rogers Corporation full-time

    Pros

Great coworkers, innovative company, excellent travel and entertainment policy - especially for Director and above.

    Cons

Lots of changes, employee benefits being cut back on, totally dysfunctional Human Resources Department.

    Advice to Management

Executive Management won't listen to advice; too busy building their own little empire. Middle management treated poorly and frequently and forever judged by single incidents.

I worked at Rogers Corporation full-time

    Pros

I really enjoyed working for Rogers and worked in many different divisions and departments. The best thing about the company is the great number of wonderful, very smart and friendly colleagues, and the opportunities to move throughout the organization and tackle new challenges.

    Cons

Some of the divisions are reluctant to change, have a very narrow product focus, and are unwilling to accept risk, which constrains growth. Support is often withdrawn from development projects prematurely, creating an atmosphere of managerial distrust.

    Advice to Management

Take a fresh approach to new expansion ideas and support small trial projects for evaluation. Communicate development project gates and achievement targets clearly and commit to supporting projects through to completion. Have Courage!

I have been working at Rogers Corporation full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Generally they have good management. The benefits are competitive, as well as competitive pay. The company focuses on specialty high tech products and is generally a market leader in their chosen markets.

    Cons

They seem to have high turnover with a lot of the managers being new. Even several of the recently hired managers have left or will leave.

    Advice to Management

Need to find ways to retain employees and provide consistency. Also need to increase job security and loyalty, especially with the change in company headquarters.

I have been working at Rogers Corporation (More than 10 years)

    Pros

Great pay and benefits, flexible work hours, work with great people.

    Cons

I've been with Rogers for several years and the current Rogers is one that is going through growing pains. They are trying to grow too big too fast and it's just not working. The only way executive management seems to know how to try to increase profits is at the expense of the employees by cutting jobs instead of focusing on increasing sales and creating new products. The HR and IT Depts. are horrible. This used to be a company that you would be proud working for and could picture yourself retiring from, but that is sadly not the case any longer.

    Advice to Management

Have a heart and take time to realize the value in the employees that you have. Realize what you are doing to the lives of 70 people by moving the Corporate offices to Arizona and cruelly making them wait weeks to find out what severance packages will be available. Please do a better job the next time a decision is made like this that turns people's worlds upside down.

    Pros

Good people trying to do the best they can. Well organized corporate headquarters in Rogers, CT.

    Cons

Lots of changes in policies and personnel over the last year. It used to be a place to call home and have a lifelong career, but it has become just another company watching the bottom line.

Makes you feel like a part of the team.

I have been working at Rogers Corporation full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Good benefits, opportunities to take on new things, good work/life balance, CEO working to change the culture in a positive way to move us into the future and keep the company growing

    Cons

Many employees have been a Rogers a long time and their acceptance of new people, new processes, & new ideas is very limited. There is a consistent belief across the company that tenure protects employees from needing to prove their value or stretching beyond what has been their normal. There are employees who still believe people should live in the area to work there.

    Advice to Management

It appears many decisions get made before thinking through them and changing when negative reactions are realized. Confidentiality could be better Put more emphasis at the leadership level on the importance of developing employees by demonstrating it at the top and require it from their managers. Managers behave more like individual contributors than managers of people.

    Pros

Generally treat their employees well, good work/life balance, global business with attendant opportunities for travel and working with other cultures. Many employees have 20+ year tenures, which says something for the environment.

    Cons

Rogers was stuck in a time warp and now global competition is a reality. This is causing a lot of turmoil in the organization with a lot of new 'talent' at the top trying to figure out what to do, and the old timers not knowing what's hit them.

    Advice to Management

Some really smart people, and some not so much. Figure out who really makes a difference and lay out the plan for the future with them.
