I have been working at Rollins full-time

    Pros

Strong company, great stock trend. Great employees.

    Cons

Old school dress code. IT spends/bleeds money while other departments operate on shoe-string budget. No money to travel and attend conferences, unless you work in IT or Marketing. Employee moral is at an all-time low.

    Advice to Management

Relax the dress-code. Benchmark with other companies and see that no other pest control companies wear ties. In fact, most large and larger companies don't have a strict code like we do. This doesn't cost the company anything to inact, but is costing us qualified applicants. Interns don't want to come back because of the environment.

I have been working at Rollins full-time

    Pros

    It was a good job.

    Cons

Benefits suck, pay sucks, doing too much stuff for free. Chemical usage cut so shareholders can get more money and customers not happy. Even some builders dropped us because we're charging too much for things we're not doing. Been here over 10 yrs, but writing is on the wall. Need to look at other offers. Top techs get popsicles instead of raise.

    Advice to Management

Listen to your techs, they make or break the co. A few lawyers agree.

    Pros

The benefits are good. Co-workers are great to work with.

    Cons

They are not vested in their employees.

    Advice to Management

Listen to what your employees have to say.

  6. "Billion Dollar Company, Horrible Health Plan"

    Star Star Star Star Star
    Current Employee - Anonymous Employee
    Current Employee - Anonymous Employee

    Pros

The people you work with are good people. A lot of pressure to put up numbers not quality. Training is ok

    Cons

The health coverage it very poor. Its privately funded unless you are a Division President or above. Then you get better coverage. The company baits you to take a HSA account by contributing $200 to the account, but you can't use that money until you have stockpiled your own money in the account. The employee contributions are very high for family deductibles of $3000 plus. The insurance has changed 3 times in 4 years. This is a major detriment to the people who produce the money for this company to be treated.

    Advice to Management

Find a way to offer better coverage for your employees.

I have been working at Rollins full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Steady Job, regular paycheck with some of the holidays

    Cons

Most development decisions are made by contractors and not employees. There is not a good acceptance criteria for software excepted from contractors. Upper management that doesn't understand software makes really bad decisions about what should be done with the software and have invested in really bad software.
Long sleeve shirt and tie are required to work there for all IT staff.

    Pros

It feels more like working for a government company, more relaxed environment and higher job security

    Cons

Very low career prospects if you join early in your career, experience is given a higher priority to talent

    Advice to Management

Encourage and train young talent to be the next generation leaders of the company

I worked at Rollins as a contractor (More than a year)

    Pros

As a contractor, I was given lot of micro-projects to work on that really varied in scope. I was able to use many of the skills I had learned but never applied in past jobs.

Also, there were a lot of food and celebrations at my particular location (I was in a satellite sales support office), if you enjoy eating. I think I gained 20 lbs. in the year I worked there. Depends on how you want to look at that.

    Cons

I never had any idea of the big picture nor was given any input on the projects I was working on. They were always given to me in the last minute - due today or tomorrow, with no time to research or even understand "the why" behind the project. Scarce ability to work with others on the team. Top down management with no room for long-term growth. Poorly designed systems.

    Advice to Management

Involve your employees in decision making and process flows. Working at a company for 15 years doesn't mean you know everything. When you don't allow employees to bring their knowledge to the table, you stifle growth and end up with poor results. Don't call people to come in 1.5 hours early to complete survey analytics.

    Cons

where else are you goin to find a job where you get to poison yourself every day, they wont pay you for unused vacation days,

    Advice to Management

take care of long time employees if you treat your employees the same way you want your employees to treat your customers there would be people lined up for 10 miles outside your door looking for a job
