Pros
  • Work Life Balance is great, its really a great place to work (in 97 reviews)

  • Flexible working hours for office staff (everyone but the shop floor shift workers) to total 38 hours a week (in 34 reviews)

Cons
  • Work/Life balance was a joke as I was on travel for as much as 8 months at a time with only a few trips allowed back home (in 15 reviews)

  • Hidebound in some of its processes; some senior management slightly too in thrall to external consultants (in 23 reviews)

    I worked at Rolls-Royce full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Decent pay/benefits. Free parking for downtown location.

    Cons

Very bureaucratic organization with arrogant leadership. They've made things so complicated that they can't get out of their own way, which shows in their financials and stock price, yet those who create this environment stay. It is also extremely passive/aggressive culture - people/managers will act like they are ok with you, then complain behind your back. In this sense, the management is very cowardly. I would not recommend to work here.

I have been working at Rolls-Royce full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Some business areas allow a 9/80 schedule or work from home
    Stock option plan
    Good 401K company contribution

    Cons

Great location if you want to work downtown
Less people and the same or more work
The employees' would like the return of the week between Christmas and New Years as company holidays

    Advice to Management

    We need transformation part II.
Things are still management heavy with not enough worker headcount to get the work done.
Management positions that went through transformation have been re-filled.
What is the big picture plan when programs and business segments keep getting sold?

    Pros

Have made some life long friends while working here.

    Cons

Passive- aggressive managers make this a difficult place work. Unable to see their business is shrinking. No new engine line in over twenty years.

    Advice to Management

Top managers have not brought in new work. Time to kick them out.

Technical, collaborative environment. Indianapolis is young and fun. Great worksite in terms of location and building facilities.

I worked at Rolls-Royce as an intern

    Pros

agile work environment, flexible working hours, exciting product

    Cons

high stress product, not a "young atmosphere"

    Advice to Management

Hard to move quickly in this culture. Very much "you must check these boxes before moving on" rather than how well you do on your job. I believe this is an HR problem rather than management problem.
