    I worked at Rolls-Royce full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

The Rolls-Royce Takover Target submitter hit it right. Training is great - they basically have a university with great classes and instructors. The benefits are pretty good. Starting salaries are competitive. They have an interesting product - if you are "into" jet engines. They have a great library and a museum.

    Cons

Forget about getting a raise. They are continuing to cut benefits ( the company is bleeding cash - it costs R-R more $$ to make a jet engine than what they sell for). Their suppliers tell R-R what to do. They tell R-R to change their quality specifications (in the supplier's favor) or the supplier will raise their prices. Management beats the heck out of their "underlings" come performance review time (management sets expectations that can't be met - therefore, they have a reason to fire you - in case they want). And the owners, R-R U K, is just look only at the numbers R-R N/A is producing and not the whole picture of what is going on. Very difficult to advance or transfer positions. Cumbersome systems to work with.

    Advice to Management

Back off your employees, if they are not producing what you want, help them.

    Pros

Gain technical knowlegde along with Six Sigma problem solving skills / lean manufacturing.

    Cons

In need of more advanced MRP / ERP systems. Siloed organization

    Advice to Management

It takes time to develop an organization. Rolls-Royce is working hard to become the industry leader in Energy as they dilligently make the changes within the organization to become successful. The employee base on hand is the right team but there needs to be more of a collaberative effort among each department to develop the company eliminating the silos it has been accustomed to working under
