Doesn't RecommendNegative OutlookI worked at Rolls-Royce full-time for more than 10 years
Pros
World-wide name brand recognition. Nice downtown Indy location and office buildings.
Cons
Senior management obsessed with repeated job cutting and how Wall Street/The City perceive this. Experienced professionals being let go when they concurrently announce they need those skills in a next transformation step--right hand does not know what the left hand is doing. Good ol' boy network exists. Experience not appreciated or recognized. Performance management system manipulates ratings to suit the few. Use of a forced distribution ("bell curve") impacts morale. Too little emphasis on goals; too much on behaviors. "Agile workplace" means you have no home desk so you are always searching for a place to work from. Very unusual to many. Promise 10% management bonus but always have excuse not to pay it. This gets old fast and impacts morale too. Very low raises, cannot be competitive.

Pros
Interesting industry, products and customers. Very technology and engineering driven.
Cons
Senior management constantly changing priorities and strategies. A new round of headcount reductions every six - twelve months. Company is trying to offset cost problems by cutting headcount and compensation and benefits -- seems like management considers this to be the universal answer to everything. Support functions have been especially hard hit making it difficult for business units to get the information they need.

"Great people, poor senior leadership"

Doesn't RecommendApproves of CEOI have been working at Rolls-Royce
Pros
people are generally good to work with, lots of opportunity to learn across a wide range of disciplines if there is ambition to do so
Cons
Process-driven to the point where administrative tasks are the bulk of engineering jobs. Very poor decision making by senior management, as well as being "out of touch". Extreme amounts of politics between departments and management.

RecommendsNeutral OutlookNo opinion of CEOI have been working at Rolls-Royce full-time for more than 3 years
Pros
- good benefits and relatively good salary for the region. Strong union support. - some interesting projects to get involved in. Rolls-Royce is undergoing a huge re-structure and is removing its legacy ways of working. - intelligent and capable peers to work with - strong reputation and brand for your CV - diverse workforce
Cons
- In contrast to its peers, Rolls-Royce has a poor view of learning and development of its employees. In 2 years, my colleagues and I have been rebuffed for every training request on non-business grounds. - Low morale and disengaged employees due to major company restructure and 4500 job cuts in 2018 - top-heavy management structure and heavily process driven, mean you spend 70-90% of your time dealing with tactical work and bureaucracy, not what you were employed to do. This infringes on work-life balance because the important work needs to be done in your own time! - Many dysfunctional departments, such as IT , Finance and Procurement where there is a lack of transparency and accountability. It is easy to hide in this large organisation - hopefully the restructure will change this. - I would question the reality of ethical practices. The yearly published 'Code of Conduct' is quickly becoming lip service. I have seen 3 people in my department bullied and forced out of their jobs by a toxic manager. The ethics line, HR and senior management have purposefully ignored pleas for help. - Slow career progression. If you are looking for a quiet job where you will not be challenged. aren't interested in growth and want a regular pay-cheque, this is a good place to work.

Doesn't RecommendNegative OutlookDisapproves of CEOI have been working at Rolls-Royce full-time for more than 10 years
Pros
The company has a good product line. These products have proved to be reliable. Many customers keep coming back for more.
Cons
Senior management always recruit some who mirrors them. Most Team Leaders are influenced by their managers. Lots of bullying and harassment issues. Many folks of sick due to stress related problems. Promotion is based on who you blow not what you know. The unions is a waste of space as it is bent and in the pockets of management.

Pros
Great place to learn and move around various skills without changing company. The company will support your training and with the right boss also support your development within the group. Hi
Cons
Some of the senior management are not team players, nor people managers. Lower senior management being the worst, shame as the senior guys seem quite switched on.
