      Toxic Work place

      Pros

The people I worked with were some of the best people I have ever had the pleasure of working with. My boss was supportive and amazing.

      Cons

I'm having a hard time writing this review as the list of things wrong with this company is long. Turn around is huge at Roma! In all my years working for this company I can think of 20-30 people fired or quit and ran screaming from the building. The problem starts at the top with the CEO and trickles on down into management and all the people below. The company likes everyone to believe that this was a healthy family environment but that is a farce. Bickering between family members is rampant and uncomfortable. Family members stop talking to employees for no apparent reason which makes for a very hostile and toxic environment. Raises are almost non existent or very minimal 1-2% a year or none. Stat holidays we had to work and we weren't allowed to take any breaks as we had next to no staff. I always felt like I was being watched and listened to throughout the office. Maybe that's the real reason the cubical walls were taken down? Inventory was a real issue for over a year. I have personally witnessed belittling and yelling at the staff by management. The company claims they are all about culture and happiness in the workplace but that is farthest from the truth. They want to put on a show and take staged pics for Facebook or the website.

      Delusions of Grandeur

      Pros

Many of the people at Roma are terrific. There are some very talented and smart people working there. The product is good. Not great, but decent.

      Cons

From the get-go I had reservations about working at Roma. During my interviews the CEO swore up and down that he was going to double and triple profits over the next 5 years. That seemed a tad unrealistic for picture frames, but I though "what the hell?", so I gave them a chance. Easily the biggest mistake of my career. Myself and my team all started at the same time, a clear sign that they have not so much a turnover issue, which would suggest that people leave for better opportunities, but that the CEO does not value or invest in his people. That only became clearer as time wore on. I ended up doing a lot of travel for the company in the year I was there, working in their showrooms around the US. I redesigned and set up the showrooms, working 12+ hours a day, hanging between 600 and 1,000 pictures and several hundred frame samples myself. Did I see any overtime pay for that? The thanks I got was a paltry 2 days in lieu, half my expenses disallowed and a "promotion" that saw essentially a name change only and removal of one week vacation time. At one point I had to use my own personal credit card to ship items from one of the showrooms, only to find that Tony then used the same card (on file) to ship again 6 months later (after I was fired). That was a nice $800 charge. While I was there, there was a pay freeze "in the back" (for, you know, the people who actually produce the product), while every member of "the family" showed up with brand new Mercedes or BMWs. The highly-respected CMO who was brought in to realign the product and marketing lasted less than 3 months, as she could see clear as day that the place is a farce. In my last week there I was asked to sign a fraudulent shipping document, mislabeling hazardous goods going into the US. I refused and 2 days later was terminated. I was so relieved. The other comments indicating that Tony views himself as the next Steve Jobs are spot on. And he could be, if you're only looking at the gargantuan ego and petulant temper tantrums. Where the comparison ends is that Tony hasn't produced anything of meaning, doesn't understand people or his market, and has no real, tangible, achievable vision whatsoever. The guy is beyond delusional and truly needs professional help. If you value yourself, your skills, your self-worth, do not work at Roma Moulding.

An entire company dedicated to making its undeserving CEO a "celebrity"

      Pros

The staff are phenomenal and it's a shame they are forced to endure this masquerade.

      Cons

Roma Moulding is an exceptionally weird environment that borders on being a cult. The extent of the CEO's education comes from reading pandering web articles about "happiness". I suppose it's easy to be happy when you've been given wealth and opportunity on a silver platter your entire life. He was appointed CEO by his father - the company's owner. Regrettably, those under his employee are dramatically underpaid and under appreciated. The company exists entirely to make the CEO some kind of business celebrity, despite the fact that he's never accomplished anything. Read the blog (which the CEO doesn't actually write, not because he's too busy, but literally because he's not educated enough to structure a sentence) and you'll see what a farce it is. All of the glowing comments on the blog are from employees who are coerced or intimidated.

If it appears to be to good to be true then it most likely is!

      Pros

-Some incredibly talented, dedicated and loyal team members -Beautifully crafted product -high energy environment -Many people doing their very best to turn this into a positive work environment

      Cons

-"Core Values" are far from abided by! What a farce -"Culture" is primarily for show and to feed the large egos of those wishing for their little piece of stardom -Exceptionally long hours for those who are ( or were ) dedicated to their role -all of the parades that you see on line and look like so much fun are oftentimes forced -CEO lives in the clouds and has no patience for coming to a true understanding for what his people must endure on a daily basis and their challenges -Toxic environment where decisions are based on office politics -EXCEPTIONALLY high turn over primarily because this place is NOT what it is portrayed to be.
