      Pros

Free turkey every thanksgiving Opportunity for bonuses daily Great hours Weekends off

      Cons

The point system used in chair production is a joke. They lure you in by telling you that you can earn an extra $38 per day, but what they don’t tell you is how unfair and uneven the points are. One barstool is 8 points more than the exact same barstool in a different color. Makes no sense.

Great Company and Job, but just a few back draws

      Pros

Pay is good plus overtime. Supervisors try working with you on any issue that you may have. Hour lunch break. Benefits are great.

      Cons

Chances of having to pick up after other department's or other shift's work and slack and chances of being backtracked on your own work. Working with some unproductive coworkers during the entire day. Chances of having to work overtime practically everyday. Working 6 days a week. Excessive lifting of heavy weight. Balancing outside life with work is difficult for those working fulltime.

Great people, but corporate stuck in 2003

      Pros

The people are amazing and everyone is very friendly, lots of privacy, no customer service, and very flexible schedule.

      Cons

Everyone in the corporate offices refuse to even acknowledge new ideas that go with the new millenium. I came from a very high end furniture store with great selling and new merchandising ideas (nothing extreme), and was told "its not the rooms to go way" even with small details. Unfortunately, micromanaging and not listening to field employees who are actually in the stores causes much disruption between the two.

      Good company, bad customers

      Pros

Company cared about employees, pay rate was good and there wasn't much nitpicking/gossiping or micro-managing

      Cons

Customers can be ridiculous with their demands and threatening to sue.. expected call volume is too high during a pandemic (might've been realistic pre-pandemic but it was not possible most days despite working non-stop)... everyone was overworked

      Micromanaged. Chronically understaffed

      Pros

Excellent advertising and finance option to draw in customers. Best stock levels compared to Competition

      Cons

Understaffed due to low pay & lack of work life balance- recruiting new QUALIFIED hires is NEXT TO IMPOSSIBLE. They don’t last once they see that the money is not worth selling your soul and sacrificing family time. You can’t even get an occasional weekend off. Then, Mgmt is blamed for a lack of talent in the store. Makes no sense at all...Mgmt by fear and intimidation seems to be the flavor of motivation. Metrics are the only thing they care about... another annoying thing is when regional mgrs beat up their teams bc another regional might be “beating” another region over something as dumb as Google reviews. “If you can’t get people to leave reviews, then you clearly can’t do this job”. Really ? That’s the mentality we contend with .. so we roll our eyes, say “yes master”, and play the game .

      Good earning potential. Nothing else.

      Pros

Seasoned and consistent salespeople can earn a great living. Showroom is beautiful and well kept. Products and payment plans are pretty good values for customers, and the company is financially very solvent. My co-workers, by and large, are all very talented and motivated....and too good for this place bc of the terrible policies and culture.

      Cons

Unrelenting and unfeasible schedule for anyone with a family or even a social life...even by retail standards. 12 hour Saturdays and 8 hour Sundays are required. Would be much more palatable if we had split shift Saturdays and even one Sunday off on rotation a month. The schedule absolutely burns people out. Micromanagement is BEYOND. The metrics we supposed to meet week in and out are a joke. 21 different metrics! You will get written up, for example of you fail to sell bedroom lamps in a month. Doesn't matter of you sell 15 lamps with living rooms or on their own. You have to sell them with a bedroom set. Why?? Makes no sense, other than management thrives on this punitive culture. Because of the hours, unreasonable metrics, and cut throat culture, there is serious negativity and FEAR pervasive in the store. Instead of being developed or coached, people with potential are unceremoniously asked to resign or be fired. Every single rule and policy is completely black and white. There is zero room for discretion or for anything to be handled on a case by case basis. It's very authoritarian and an atmosphere of complete control by upper management....store manager was awesome on some level, but at the same time, a total puppet to regional management who has ZERO compassion or interest in making this a better place to work or improving the company culture. it's a turn-and-burn kind of company. Zero investment in individuals. You are just a number and will actually be told so. Employees lose commission when customers cancel orders, no matter why. Delivery drivers ruin furniture? Well salesperson doesn't get paid. Shipping company LOSES a $1400 rug and the customer cancels because NO ONE cares to expedite a resolution? Salesperson loses commission. It's disheartening. Sales staff take the brunt for EVERYTHING. You will be told you are appreciated, but that's baloney. I have never, in my 20 years in sales, felt so unvalued, mislead by my interview, or feared so much for my job security over asinine metrics.
