I have been working at Rooms To Go full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

    - Great Health Benefits with on site clinic
    - Phenomenal work/life balance
    - Company truly cares about employees - during the hurricanes, they gave out cases of water, they opened their warehouses as shelters for employees and their families, they give out turkeys every year for Thanksgiving
    - Any technology you need to do your job is always available
    - Fun culture, a lot of events and the wellness department puts together a lot of activities
    - Often times people are promoted to other departments from within
    - Emphasis on training and certifications in some departments for continuing education

    Cons

    - There are some people in management who got there by being good at what they did but they make horrible managers - these people need to be transitioned back into roles that they are well suited for
    - The restaurant selection near by is awful
    - Lack of vacation days - only 10 per year for the first 10 years - though a lot of managers help make this work by being flexible
    - Like with many companies employees who are promoted from within to fill roles are not compensated as well as an external candidate might be

    Advice to Management

Work on playing to employees/managements strengths

I have been working at Rooms To Go full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Insurance. Solid delivery procedures. Money is good once you get past 5 years... and then wait another 5 yrs and you’ll finally earn 3 weeks of vacation. Yes, 10yrs.

    Cons

ZERO WORK LIFE BALANCE. it appears that the new regional wants to import his cookie cutter models with ZERO regard for what fits the stores actual needs.

    Advice to Management

Why allow a new Regional to upset morale just to be that lion who needs to hear their own personal roar . It’s a complete lack of humanity to upset people’s home life by taking away having two days off in a row ... even if just on occasion. Berating phone calls are a management style of 1980. Annual bonuses are based on tenure and not performance. It’s a trap to keep people employed but does nothing to reward or encourage monthly performance. Managers opinions are meaningless and are disposable... it appears the only thing the upper level is concerned with is keeping sales associates from leaving so that it “looks” like there is no attrition. Dig deeper and you’ll see the dissension within the ranks.

I worked at Rooms To Go full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

Enormous income awaits Sales Associates who simply show up on time, follow the rules and achieve the standards they lay out for you, which are pretty easy to do as everything is laid out for you. First class ownership and coaches running the team and these folks have a heart, even as big as the company has gotten.

    Cons

None! There’s no crying in baseball or retail, you are told right from your initial interview you will be needed for holidays, weekends and evenings.

    Advice to Management

Keep doing what you are doing. Rooms To Go was the best job I ever had, there’s nothing else like it out there.
