I worked at Roper Apparel & Footwear full-time

    Pros

Everyone is friendly and they have great discounts for employees. Yoga and Kettle Bells available if you are into that sort of thing. They have flexible work schedules, good medical, vacation time and sick time.

    Cons

Do not match 401k which was misleading. The management doesn't "manage" very well. One person seems to run the show and ideas are not welcome and didn't feel like a team. No room for growth or to move up in company. The position you come in at is where you stay.

    Advice to Management

Talk to each other and your specific employees. Don't just assume.

    Pros

You can buy apparel and boots at a great discount. They have a corporate wellness program. (They workout at lunch.) We work 1/2 days on Fridays.

    Cons

It is a two level company...management and everyone else. There is very little opportunity for advancement. There is a 401K, but no company contribution or match. The new offices are very dark. Only management can even see a window. There is an attitude that we are easily replaceable. When business is down, there are no raises, and when business is up, there are no raises, just maybe a small bonus. I've been there a few years and have never had a review. I think some of management used to be pee-ons themselves and so they take it out on their staff by treating them like pee-ons.

    Advice to Management

Communicate more with your staff. Give reviews. Realize that people need to feel that they can grow. People need goals. Control freaks don't make very good managers...delegate. Act like you value your employee. Show appreciation for a job well done.

I have been working at Roper Apparel & Footwear full-time

    Pros

Relaxed atmosphere, workers are really friendly, company pays 100% of your med insurance premium, great discount on clothing.

    Cons

Poor management, favoritism of certain employees, no real checks/balances of anyones performance, no room to ever advance beyond position you were hired for, never had an employee review.

    Advice to Management

Work together instead of against each other, company standards set for employees should be consistent between depts.
