I have been working at Roper St. Francis Healthcare full-time for more than a year

    Pros

vacation time decent pay decent equipment Good benefits

    Cons

They over work their employees and under staff the departments. They want the most amount of work out of the least amount of employees. If someone quits, it takes months to get a new person in and that's if the position even gets approved to be posted. Meanwhile, the other employees in that department have to work harder to make up for that lost position. Some employees are thrown around to other locations and have...

    Advice to Management

Having stable schedules and stable locations are important to people. If you expect to hire people and send them to 4 different locations in all different areas and constantly change their work schedule, you should be paying higher wages to those particular employees. It is not fair to pay the same for the employee who gets to have a set schedule at a set location.

I worked at Roper St. Francis Healthcare full-time for more than 10 years

    Pros

The have good benefits and a good good reputation in the community. They truly care for the patients. A culture of respect is fostered and encouraged.

    Cons

They want their nurses to go back to school (and even contribute financially) but then don't help them stay in the system. There is a push to have nurses get higher degrees. I went back to school and became a nurse practitioner but then I couldn't get hired in the system- they only wanted to hire nurse practitioners that had experience. My 17 years as a reliable, hard working RN didn't count towards anything. I would...

I have been working at Roper St. Francis Healthcare full-time for more than 5 years

    Pros

    Good Pay and good benefits

    Cons

Everyone from management on down is concerned about job stability, as many emoloyees, some with 30 years of tenure, are losing their jobs due to job elimination, primarily due to poor decisions on large expenses such as the lease of all of the Nason buildings, along with the Carnes Crossroad new hospital project.

I worked at Roper St. Francis Healthcare full-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

Good benefits, mostly good people trying to do what is best for the patients. A lot of options for receiving care and for writing referrals.

    Cons

The physicians are definitely a good old boys club. Management at the practice level is poor. Too much micromanaging that interferes with quality patient care. NPs are paid WAY LESS than PAs.

    Advice to Management

Allow the Nurse Practitioners to do what they do best and treat patients independently. Stop micromanaging everyone.
