University with good mission, some growing pains

    Pros

    - University is dedicated to the mission of healthcare education. - Employees are fun to work with and most are very committed to their mission to educate students in various healthcare fields. - Very committed to transparency about financials, enrollment, growth, etc. with all employees. - Facilities are nice. - Time off is fantastic, far above most private sector companies. - Other benefits are also really good (insurance, 403b match, etc).

    Cons

    - University is still relatively young and trying to grow very quickly. Not always ready for the growth, and has experienced some growing pains over the years. - Whether you have a positive or negative experience in your employment often depends on what department you're in and who your supervisor is (not unlike other companies). Culture and employee experience varies from campus to campus and department to department without a lot of consistency. - Most of the school's income is from tuition, which makes it somewhat volatile if admission numbers go down. - Management decisions in the past have created budget concerns that led to several years without basic cost of living raises, which was very hard on morale. - Some promotions to high-level leadership positions are based more on tenure or friendship with executives, and less on qualifications of the person promoted.
