I have been working at Rosewood Hotels & Resorts (More than a year)

    Pros

There is the chance to meet a diverse range of people in terms of fellow associates, and guests staying at the hotel. It can be rewarding in that you are able to broaden your cultural horizons at the intersection of many important soft skills.

    Cons

Working in the hospitality industry is extremely demanding, and can drain you of your energy and happiness if you are not passionate about it. Work is usually performed in shifts which lends itself to working consecutive closing then openings on some days Work schedules usually come out weekly for the next week, and it can be very difficult to live a healthy and well rounded life outside of work. The pay is not very good for the large pool of knowledge, and nuanced skillset required.

    Advice to Management

Try to live your daily managerial life with this important rule from Dale Carnegie: Try honestly to see things from the other person's point of view.

I worked at Rosewood Hotels & Resorts full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Line staff are generally nice people, easy to make friends

    Cons

No room for growth, low pay and even if you are willing to work more to climb the ladder it doesn't seem like the people running the show actually want you to succeed. Part of the reason, I believe, is that upper management, which has been there for over 20 years, doesn't have a secondary education and feels threatened by driven, yound individuals who do. Also no work life balance, you will be expected to be willing to work at all hours of the day, regardless.
If you are looking to start your career at a company that offers future advancement and some kind of work/life balance, Rosewood is definitely not the place for you.

    Advice to Management

Make sure you are developing your talent. Do a better job of distinguishing who is talent and who is sucking up to you by actually listening to your line staff employees. Also start using holiday pay for people who have to work the holiday (another thing, you don't get paid extra for working thanksgiving, christmas, etc.)
