I worked at Ross Stores part-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Management team is very friendly this can be an enjoyable job depending on which location you will be at. This is a professional and friendly environment. You get a nice associate discount. The job is not complicated at all and the registers are not difficult to use. You get paid on time. Training at the beginning is very helpful. There are incentives for the associate of the month. Get 1-2 breaks and lunch time if you work over 4 hours. Work can be fun if you enjoy it.

    Cons

Very difficult to move up unless you've been there for years. There is competition and interviews every year to receive a full-time position, otherwise you start at part-time with around 20 hours per week. Closing is stressful because we are under-staffed to "save money." Manager has a limit to how many people are on cashier at a time(which is why the lines are long). It is protocol so we understand why it is done.

    Advice to Management

Understaffing does not help keeping the store in quality condition. Not enough full-time opportunities.

Great first job, lots of opportunities for growth, benefits for full time employees, flexible, good hours and they work around your schedule.

I worked at Ross Stores part-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Job tasks were easy and always something to do. Never had to worry about what to do next and employee discount was pretty good.

    Cons

Managers were very unorganized, rude, lazy, and irresponsible. Supervisors spoke to the workers as if they were doing labor. They rushed the workers, never thanked the workers, and no place to move up.

    Advice to Management

Stop being lazy and actually get involved with the store and workers.

I have been working at Ross Stores part-time (More than a year)

    Pros

    20% discount, that's it.

    Cons

A company with a lack of leadership, with zero knowledge are procedures and to serve, hire staff without checking references-unscrupulous employees steal, hours less 20 per week,

    Advice to Management

Most of them have no education beyond high school have that position only based on years worked.

    Pros

If you like to be busy all the time ( what is my case) you would like to work there.

    Cons

They don't promote a diversified work place, what result in a very united group, and if you are new and don't belong this "group" , they will treat you badly.

    Advice to Management

try to hire people from different backgrounds and different races, some supervisors needs more training, they need to know that yelling it's not the right way to get what they want.
