I have been working at Ross Stores part-time (More than a year)

    Pros

I've been working at ross for a full year now. When I first started working at ross, it was a nice fun place to work at. I got along with all my co workers and I loved working with all my managers. Now its just total chaos, management is poor, your treated any kind of way. The manager never gives you a break, and you have to fight an break your back just to get a raise. Always understaffed, people always call out or quit.

    Cons

    No breaks
    Always understaffed
    No raise
    Heavy favoritism
    Bad management
    Dirty Store

    Advice to Management

You should focus more on keeping a full staff and treating your employees better.

    Pros

I guess the discount? That's about it!

    Cons

Management is out of touch with the employees. Training managers are left to do the grunt work instead of actually training to manage like they should be. Management sits in the back room and doesn't work with training managers or supervisors to actually train them, yet they leave them to deal with employees and customers 90% of the time. Theres a huge disconnect.

    Advice to Management

There can't just be managers and employees if the manager sits in the back office the whole time. Management needs to work with the supervisors to allow them to manage more and learn more about the company since they are planning on becoming a manager. That's the only way they'll be able to manage the employees considering there is always a lack of money or hours to allot to employees...making running the store efficiently very hard, far from Ross corporate standards!

I have been working at Ross Stores part-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Customers are nice, nine dollars pays more than some places at the mall

    Cons

The store is unorganized, most of the good managers are gone, and I feel as though they do not pay you exactly 9 dollars per hour.

    Advice to Management

There needs to be more associates and managers

    Pros

Nothing so far, but if you are a night-owl, this is your job!

    Cons

The new motto should be: No truck, no work!

The Night Stock Associate's job is to 'wait' for the truck to arrive and bring merchandise, and that's if it comes that day that you are supposed to work. The job is putting alarm tags to merchandise, mainly apparel which includes children's, men's and women's clothing. It's like an assembly line with huge boxes that contain everything and anything. You only stay with the apparel (clothes) and place everything else in a cart so someone else can put away.
Your entire shift is putting 'alarm tags' (you better keep your fingers away from the 'needle-like' side of the tag or you will be hurting the entire night) to clothing, separate them by department, and place them on racks, and before the end of your shift you should have placed everything away.

The pay is $9.00 an hour and it would be great if you would not show up at work and then they would tell you that there is no truck coming and to go home (better live near by, otherwise, good luck!). Some of the managers do not know what the others are doing. You may show up at work because one manager tells you to come at an specific day and when you get there, well, you were not 'scheduled' so you need to go home.

I rather clean houses to ever work in retail ever again!

    Advice to Management

The left hand doesn't know what the right hand is doing! Too many chefs in the kitchen, sort of speak!
