I worked at Ross Stores part-time (More than a year)

    Pros

There is no shortage of tasks to be handled. Small, annual raises

    Cons

    Minimum wage
    minimum hours
Corporate does not care about the employees

    Advice to Management

Pay employees based on the amount of work you have them doing, not the "job title" they have been hired under. It will decrease turnover.

I have been working at Ross Stores full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Great bonus payout, nice people, reasonable hours, pride in working at such a quietly successful company

    Cons

Patriarchal. Ridiculous amounts of approvals, even on seemingly trivial matters. This is so demoralizing and deflating for employees who were excited about their ideas and solutions. "Technology" is like a time machine to the 1990s.

    Advice to Management

    Trust your employees!

    Pros

Great staff with friendly people to surround you. The culture has a great way of making you feel like family.

    Cons

The amount of hours spent standing and walking around is bad for your knees and gets tiring after a while.

    Advice to Management

Be more acceptable when employees ask for time off for family.

I have been working at Ross Stores full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Generally speaking, Ross is very considerate of employees and employee happiness. Ross has stayed relevant and I feel they are one of the few safe retail B&M stores to work for. They have had much success with their business model. Many opportunities for advancement

    Cons

typical downsides for retail jobs. Long hours, many weekends, tight payroll, high expectations

I worked at Ross Stores part-time (More than 8 years)

    Pros

Loved the fast pace so I never really noticed time passing, if you're on the register you're stuck. Also the coworkers were phenomenal.

    Cons

Cleaning up the store, there were more clothes on the floor than on the hangers. Managers were disrespectful didn't follow rules.

    Advice to Management

    Be better.

I have been working at Ross Stores full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

Like anywhere, depending on the people/managers you work with can be fun.
Offers decent benefits if you choose to elect.
    Discount.

    Cons

    Mostly part-time employment.
Getting ahead depends on location and who will invest in you.
Can only get so far, then you plateau.
Internal promotions paid way less than external hires. Better to get to a certain title then jump ship.

    Advice to Management

Walk the talk. Internal development is a focus for the company but managers and compensation doesn't reflect that.
