I have been working at Ross Stores full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

    -Day-to-day work is easy
-Tons of resources on the office computer
-20% discount and 40% when a new store opens in the district
    -Always something to do
-Since its a discount store, not everything needs to be perfect, though making it perfect is exceeding expectations.

    Cons

-Human Resources and Ross's help desk is outsourced to what appears to be an Indian company. The outsourced company may work for multiple different businesses, since most of the people in the call center don't seem very knowledgeable about what a Ross Store actually is.
-The Upper management (e.g. District Manager, Zone Director, etc.) have very high expectations of the store but give very little direction in how things can be improved other than a hand-wavy following of the Merchandising Guide.
-Associates call in often since management was very stingy with firing anyone. A number of associates have several no call no shows until they were fired, rather than AT MOST 2 as with most other businesses. This naturally puts stress on you as an Area Supervisor and your co-workers.
-Payroll is tight so you generally only have a couple of associates working at a time, meaning you have minimal time to work on store projects since you'll be busy covering shifts.

    Advice to Management

Do not hesitate to terminate or begin retraining anyone who isn't showing up to work or 100% following Ross policies or working towards improving themselves.
