I worked at Ross Stores part-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

The pay was $9.25/hr. The hiring managers are nice. There was a little room to work in other parts of the store.

    Cons

If they didn't think you were a good cashier or your numbers weren't where they were supposed to be they would cut your hours.

I worked at Ross Stores full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

They are really focused on developing talent and promoting from within, even though I was an external hire. They found me on linked in...I didn't even apply for the job

    Cons

Lots and lots of turnover management all the way down. Ross customers trash the store, which leaves the managers and employees feeling over worked and underpaid to have to deal with that. Payroll is always being cut which adds to people quitting or having to work harder to over compensate. They will also push people into promoting, that honestly aren't ready in order to ensure supervisor or management positions are always filled.

    Advice to Management

Just because someone is a hard worker doesn't make them a leader. That's called the halo effect and should be avoided.

I have been working at Ross Stores part-time

    Pros

Flexible hours. Employee discount. Friendly Co-Workers. Above Minimium Wage start.

    Cons

Not enough money is claimed by employers who stay over 12 hours and cuts time for other staff members. Register layout doesn't make sense and customers can't get through when cashiers are improperly positioned. No customer service desk for returns so lines are backed up more. Cashiers are timed at how fast they go suffering quality customer service for rudeness. These things need desperately changing.

    Advice to Management

Stop timing cashiers. Customer service and quality should always come first. Change register format to make lines consistent. Add separate customer service area.
