I worked at Ross Stores full-time (More than 8 years)

    Pros

You are able to move up within the company in a decent timeframe, good overall benefits from health insurance to identity protection

    Cons

Payroll is always tight, during the holidays hours are extended past 1am, and you can't do anything about shoplifters except give them customer service

    Advice to Management

I got terminated for stopping a shoplifter, don't be a hero.

I worked at Ross Stores full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

45 hour work weeks entitle you to some nice overtime, a great opportunity to learn the ins and out of the store

    Cons

Not enough time in training, no actual training is done, little to no support when you feel like you're drowning ("You should have learned this during your training"), had to close the store most nights which leads to very little time to have any semblance of a personal life

    Advice to Management

Make ASMs exempt from overtime/salaried, create better training, don't expect fresh out of college students to come in and be people managers overnight

    Pros

You can application online. The interview was super easy, but also not really an interview. They are super good with 15mins and meal breaks.

    Cons

The full time employees take their jobs way too seriously. The loss prevention people are a joke and some of them act like undercover cops. Head loss prevention worker at my location (Phoenix,az) is super condescending. Inconsistencies with management on if tattoos can be shown or not.

    Advice to Management

Set realistic expectations for your sale associates, follow through with those expectations and management needs to learn some better effective communication skills.
