    Pros

The diverse, team-oriented culture that brings all of us together. Although the job itself can be tough, but the people make the office a great place to be in. Plenty of opportunities organized to bond. Great access & exposure to senior management.

    Cons

Political climate in the office may be annoying to some, and the nature of the work itself isn't the most exciting so don't expect too much. Can be a little repetitive, but you can get really good at it. In the end you're the one who is in control so it depends a lot on you on where you want to be ahead in.

    Advice to Management

Organize more events to know entry-level employees more, improve the technological facilities there. Enhance internship program by making it more challenging, and provide greater opportunities for career advancement.

    Pros

Pay is amazing, you'll receive incredible industry experience and work closely with partners & senior managers. Everyone, including staff, are incredibly helpful and want you to progress in your career and understandng of the industry. Everyone is willing to teach no matter your experience level which was good for when I started since I had none in financial services. Our office seems committed to promoting and hiring management level employees from within which hopefully will retain top talent.

    Cons

Lots of hours (though well-compensated through overtime), sometimes employees feel underappreciated, tax season is strenuous, sometimes small issues are micro-managed. Many of these same cons I have had with previous firms I've worked at as well. This firm is not without faults but recognize there may be disgruntled ex-employees on the site.

    Advice to Management

Recognize the talent you currently have and work harder to advance their careers. The more effort and commitment you show to providing your employees with the opportunity and tools to advance within the firm, the more likely you are to retain top talent and ultimately improve the firm as a whole.

    Pros

This firm basically lets you take off anytime you want nine months out of the year with a morning's notice. You can leave early any day during busy season so long as you think of some reasonable excuse. The only real expectation is that you get your work done at some point. After the economic downturn, the firm was able to hire more intelligent staff than they had in the past. So, it should be a better place to work now.

    Cons

For some reason, this firm hired quite a few people who did not belong in the accounting profession. As you may notice, a lot of people on this board can barely write. This was typical at the staff level and remained at the senior and management levels. The "backstabbing" people were the ones trying to tell management to get rid of some of these idiots. Everyone received close to the same raise even though there was a clear difference in performance.

    Advice to Management

Fire some of these morons and give the good workers higher pay.

    Pros

the company offers very good for work/life balance.

    Cons

management looks at employees as a cost not an asset. there is lack of job security no matter how good you are and how hard you work. employees are demotivated.

    Advice to Management

Employees think management only cares about company's profit going into their/principals pocket. Whether this is true or false, management must have done something not right for the firm/employees to make employees think that way.

I have been working at Rothstein Kass as an intern (Less than a year)

    Pros

Working at Rothstein Kass offers an internship that was similar to one at the big four public accounting firms, but with much more exposure and responsibilities on the job. The long hours and the type of work is pretty much the same regardless of which public accounting firm you work for, but what's different is the atmosphere in the office. For me, I had the pleasure to work with an office team of just 15 individuals, so the personal connections truly existed, which played a huge role in the culture. Everyone who works for the firm is extremely friendly, intelligent, approachable, and hard-working at the same time. I never felt pressured by any deadlines at any point and the entire office atmosphere feels like a team environment 100% of the time. To help cope with long hours that naturally come with busy season, Rothstein Kass had what they called the "marathon." It was a string of 26 events throughout busy season that varied from competitions to social gatherings to bring up employee morale and reduce individual stress.

    Cons

The reason I gave Rothstein Kass 4 stars instead of 5 was because the work-life balance, at times, was not there. This kind of goes without saying with any public accounting role, but it would have been nice to get out of the office early every once in a while just to help reduce stress and get personal time. That being said, Rothstein Kass's compensation justifies the long hours and grueling work.
