Doesn't RecommendNegative OutlookDisapproves of CEOI worked at Rover.com for more than 3 years
Pros
Great way to build up clientele. You also can set your own rates which is good, especially since Rover takes 20% of your earnings.
Cons
They can delete your account without any warning or notice. I was a Rover pet sitter for 4 years, and one of the best in San Antonio. I had over 70 repeat clients and hundreds of positive bookings. Throughout those 4 years the amount of negative experiences I had I could count on one hand. Never once did I receive a warning, if I had a negative experience it always was resolved. I followed all the proper procedures and never went against company policy. And then one day I woke up and they deleted my account. All because I client of mine couldn't reach me at 2am because I was sleeping. In her messages she even said outright that she didn't want to get me into trouble. But they deactivated my account anyways. I called immediately and had the most unprofessional conversation with their Rover Trust and Safety Team. He would only talk over me and wouldn't even give me an explanation as to why they felt the need to deactivate my account. When I managed to prove that it was a misunderstanding and nothing even bad happened under my care, they told me what's done is done and they couldn't reverse it even if they wanted to. This was my primary source of income and they terminated everything during the Covid pandemic. I have been struggling ever since. I tried making a new account twice, with new information and they deleted them each time after I put my social security number in. They claim that they don't keep your ssn on file but they do. They do not care about their sitters. The year before I had my address leaked by a past client of mine and had to move because of it. Rover did nothing. I had someone entire my home under false pretence, after I had to move the first time. Rover did nothing. People can make fake Rover accounts to get your information and as a sitter you cannot even block them from your profile. It doesn't matter how many happy clients you have or how many positive reviews you have. Mine was a solid (4.9 stars). They can drop you for no reason whatsoever.
