    No opinion of CEO

I worked at Rovi full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Interesting and challenging work. Employee's are respected by management, and career growth is taken seriously. There is an active entertainment committee that organizes several social events thoughout the year.

    Cons

Usual large company issues. Very process oriented, little scope for innovation.

    Advice to Management

Lots of focus on hitting quarterly targets, need to add focus for more long term goals.

    Disapproves of CEO

I worked at Rovi full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Rewarding and challenging work for those willing to work hard and not accept failure as an option.

    Cons

Short and long term planning for product and engineering teams is a failure at Rovi. The company as a whole does not respect/follow the agile/scrum process with a prioritized back-log.

    Advice to Management

Invest in product and engineering positions. Eliminate many of the sales and management positions so you can do work rather than just talk about. Don't sell what isn't built!

"Leadership does not apply to promoted companies culture"

I have been working at Rovi full-time (More than 8 years)

    Pros

    - enough funds to use unified tools over different groups
    - somewhat career potential
    - budget for social activities and events
    - nice people on the daily level

    Cons

    - bureaucratic process is way to long
    - US focused decisions - difficult for other locations to get a voice
    - US focused culture - ignoring other locations laws, cultural specifics, ...
    - Senior Management does not fulfill their own promises
    - Upstream reports have to be accurate and written, downstream are vague and verbal - the higher the management the less accountable a statement becomes

    Advice to Management

If you want to have motivated and reliable employees be an idol to that, fulfill your promises, give clear written instructions, do not change every 6 month strategy, listen to employees and managers from all levels and all over the world, they are on the frontline and know what can work and what not. The world ends not at the borders of the US, there are countries where you first trust your employees.
