    Cons

    Culture is very fractured due to the company's non-stop acquisition of new properties. Many "entities" within the company (TV Guide, Allmusic, etc) still maintain independent cultures and processes, and not all are treated equally, with some carrying "favored nation" status. Also, there is virtually no commitment to service, either from a management or financial standpoint. It's as if the company is resting on the laurels of its products.

    Advice to Management

    Understand that quality service is a key component to the selling and growth process. Build out a professional team with a strong ability support and manage customer satisfaction.

    Some cool technology and good people

    Cons

    Macrovision is in the business of acquiring companies and then breaking them apart for key components - this can be a good strategy if you know what you are doing, but I'm not sure they know what they are doing. There tends to be a distinction between early Macrovision employees and new employees from acquired companies - just look at the senior management and you see who stays and who goes. Another challenge is that many of their acquisitions are way upside down in regard to how much they paid versus what they sold them off for - this leaves them with a high debt load and fewer revenue opportunities.

    Ensure that your chosen strategy doesn't blow up in your faces
