I worked at Rovi (Less than a year)

    Pros

    - Everyone is super nice and willing to help you.
    - Fun corporate events for Holidays and going away parties.
    - All of middle management was really helpful with new employees and really helped those understand their mistakes.

    Cons

    - The contract was filled and extension was offer too late, by that time that I had already found future employment.

I have been working at Rovi full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Have been at Rovi for 5 years and have seen lots of positive changes based on culture surveys. This is making great headway into the company's culture...keep it up.

    Cons

Sometimes this culture change feels forced and not taken to hart by the average employee. We need a sense of belonging. I want to feel excited about where I work.

    Advice to Management

Make advances into cutting edge technology.

I worked at Rovi full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Good benefits, friendly environment from top-management down. There are opportunities to learn new skills and move about within the department.

    Cons

Pay is not very competitive. Workload will often increase, but compensation does not. Can be very stressful at times when employees leave and you're forced to nearly double your workload, sometimes working overtime and even on weekends.

    Advice to Management

Lower level employees are often worked so much to the point where overtime is necessary. Quality can suffer as a result of this. Invest more in employees if the quality of the product is important.

    Advice to Management

No products and lack of responsability to create a road map.

Great environment, smart people, great product. People willing to help. Good employee benefits. Corporate discounts and services. Location is perfect and can easily use public transport to commute.

    Cons

The workplace and culture is great. I don't see any cons as of now. I like the place and is a great platform to start your career with.

    Advice to Management

I have been working at Rovi full-time (More than 8 years)

    Pros

Good benefits, salary, etc. Middle management is generally reasonable and open to new ideas.

    Cons

Little or no room for advancement. The job you offer you accept will likely be the same job you maintain at Rovi.

    Advice to Management

August bonus fiasco, then shortly after announcing a HUGE 5 year IP licensing deal. Sour tastes in everyone's mouth.

I have been working at Rovi full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Great co-workers and environment to socialize with co-workers. coming to work isn't a problem. depending on your interest, the company could very well teach you something. unless you're always meeting and greeting people, the office attire is very casual, which is nice to have.

    Cons

Everything take about quadruple the time to get done since so many people need to approve anything. Just like anything in corporate, there are budget cuts across the board.

    Advice to Management

Listen to your reporting staff before you make a decision on anything!

    Pros

This is a friendly company. It is big, but not so big that bureaucracy gets in the way. After the recent reorganizations, the company seems to have a clear vision for the future.

    Cons

IT support has been outsourced, which causes some technical issues when you first start.

    Advice to Management

Keep focused on our products and core IP business. Continue to grow our business while improving our image. Continue to improve our talent by hiring more talented people.

I worked at Rovi full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Relaxed working environment with little pressure. Excellent compensation and focus on compensating employees with innovation (patent applications).

    Cons

Company focused on next generation software that did not pan out, leaving current products lightly supported for years. Now playing catch up with their product line.

    Advice to Management

I saw a lot a emails on company culture but little in the way of management supporting that culture. Start "walking the walk" if you want employee buy in.
