I have been working at Rowan Companies full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Employees and management are genuinely nice.
The company culture makes employees feel valued.
Work is varied and stays interesting.
There is a strong sense of ethics and values.
The company is growing rapidly, while some positions must be filled "from the outside" the company is also serious about promoting qualified individuals.

    Cons

The salary is not quite as competitive as some of the larger companies that are also HQ'ed in Houston.
Since the company is growing rapidly, some departments are understaffed, and employees are swamped.

    Pros

Great opportunities for advancement, if you are dedicated, hardworking. Lots of upper operations management have many years of experience in the field. Company values are as solid as can be.

    Cons

No major cons, but like all companies, there are some. If you want better pay, perks, or improvements........look in the mirror, because it's all up to YOU.

    Advice to Management

Field personnel want to see more of upper management, been that way for many years.

I have been working at Rowan Companies (More than 10 years)

    Pros

Safety, Training, Mentorship, Career Growth Potential. Good pay. Good benefits package.Challenging work atmosphere.

    Cons

Sad that Rowan had to transition to match the rest of the modern industry. The retirement package (pension plan) and lack of lay-offs (decades of history) made it a special "family" to work for and with. I will always be grateful for my time with the company.

    Advice to Management

Maintain the philosophy of "A Premier Product for a Premier Price". Continue to invest in your employees: not only in compensation packages, but in training and career growth/advancement potential.
