I have been working at Rowan Companies full-time

    Pros

Started out as a small company that cared about their people and the way they treat rig crew.
    Good on site rig management
    Teambuilding during shipyard period
    Safety focused

    Cons

Communication and agenda deteriorated massively once ship lost contract. Office personnel either know nothing or will not tell crew what plans are. Unaware or do not care how decisions affect crew morale.
Poor planning during anchor period, short notice for crew changes

    Advice to Management

Realize that the rig crew sacrifice their time with family and at home to keep the rigs running - the money is made on the wells. Stop treating employees like a number where cost savings is the bottom line.

    Pros

Very humanly General Manager. An understandable person, very closed to his colleagues. Not very fast paced job, you'll have your idle time now and then, a typical 9 to 5 job.

    Cons

Being part of a larger holding, there are times when conflicting interests are undermining the good working environment

    Pros

The company is small and they used to care about employees

    Cons

New management and long hours. The company is no longer stable and at this point they have let go of 35% of the workforce and there is no end in sight

    Pros

They started out as a great employee focused, family style organization.

    Cons

They grew too big and brought in a lot of people used to working for big oil companies. This took a lot of the advantages of the small company away. There seemed to be very little concern about training the managers.

    Cons
