Pros
- Opportunities to work CCT or FTO, the highest you can go is to management however - Great work enviorment - Scholarship program - Family oriented (depending on county) - Flexible scheduling - Room for individual growth in the healthcare field
Cons
- Equipment (although last time I was working, they were bringing in new rigs and automatic bariatric gurneys). Most rigs have manual gurneys so be careful with your back!

Overall had a good experience aside from occasional personality clashes That is standard with any job.

Growth opportunities in every direction
Dec 6, 2022 - Marketing in San Leandro, CARecommendCEO ApprovalBusiness OutlookPros
Royal is a place where if you have an idea that you're passionate about, you're encouraged to bring it to life. I've had the opportunity to create new programs, innovate on existing ones, introduce new tools, and more in my time here. Growing a team and developing talent has been a highlight for sure. I went through a number of training exercises myself and learned how to identify opportunities to elevate my team members. Leadership development is something that is expected from managers and up. There's a genuine concern for core values to not be something that just lives on a wall.
Cons
Shiny-Penny-Syndrome is a thing because the industry is so ripe for innovation. There are 10K things we could be working on, but being dedicated to a short list of them can be challenging. The ongoing management of newly built programs can make workloads challenging and a balancing act. The ongoing success of a program is largely dependent on the bandwidth of the person who owns the program and if they are giving a fraction of their time and energy to it, the program will be fractionally less successful.

Nice place to work if you don’t mind shift work with some mandatory overtime

Fair, equipment is supplied and pretty good, friendly co workers
Cons
Bad when understaffed, still had manual gurneys

Great company
Jul 26, 2022 - Emergency Medical Technician in Santa Clara, CARecommendCEO ApprovalBusiness OutlookPros
My time at Royal has been a great experience. Most, if not all, my partners have been awesome to work with. I've also had a good experience working with the Supervisors in Santa Clara County. Scheduling is super helpful. In my opinion, they're willing to work with you especially if you're not constantly calling out, asking for continuous permanent schedule changes, etc. Overall I think it's a great place to get experience and work with cool people.
Cons
Being IFT, you don't get a lot of opportunities to practice medical/trauma assessments in emergent situations. Code 2's can be infrequent which is when you have a more of a chance to put some of those into practice. However, if you're looking to going into 911 as an EMT or Paramedic, I think there are still ways to maintain and develop your EMT skills, It just requires intentionality on your part. It won't be the same as emergent situations you'll find in 911 but you will at least maintain your skills.

Great Time. Good for students, part time employees, and anyone in between jobs.

Very flexible. Benefit of being at a larger company is the plethora of scheduling options available. Great staff, both higher ups and management that always have your back. Very informative, and good at guiding you in whatever future journey you may be embarking on. Most importantly, unlike other companies, they understand this job has a high turnover rate, but they are still very respectable and easy to work with.
Cons
None. Maybe pay, but that is an industry wide issue, and not at all unique to Royal Ambulance.

One of the Best Ambulance Companies To Work For!
Jun 2, 2022 - EMT/Health CoordinatorRecommendCEO ApprovalBusiness OutlookPros
Over the past several years, I've worked at Royal as both an EMT in field operations and within the HR team, and both have been amazing experiences! Royal fosters a close-knit, family-like environment unlike many others that I've worked from. From day one, they support you and provide you the resources to reach your career goals. As a soon-to-be Physician Assistant student, I can definitely say that Royal helped me get into graduate school. Royal has a ton of different contracts (backup 911, acute care facilities, strike teams, BART, psych hospitals, etc.) that allowed me to gain a lot of medical experience and connect with healthcare providers. Their alumni panels/network also allowed me to talk to former employees who are now PAs, which was a big help when writing personal statements and finding shadowing. Most of the ambulances I worked in were less than 2-3 years old, and the company is always investing in new equipment. They really do put the money they make into supporting their employees, which is hard to find in many companies nowadays.
Cons
I can't think of any major cons. Anytime I had any sort of issue come up like tablet troubles or rig issues, I was able to get it resolved quickly by a supervisor or manager.
