I worked at Royal Caribbean Cruises full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Paid training, benefits, free cruise your 1st year, vacation time, PTO, opportunity for advancement, fun committees to help boost morale. On site gym, and cafe. Great co-workers.

    Cons

Management at the call center level needs improvement; favoritism/nepotism is an issue, virtual desk top with non-local server with frequent known issues, out of date systems.

    Advice to Management

Do not promote someone to a supervisor within a department for a job that they have zero training or experience in the job. On the Trade Support Service side utilize a monthly survey of all employees to get their opinion on their supervisor, do not wait until something is wrong as complaints get ignored, and do not rely on the "how do you feel about work today" survey. Be more consistent with information and policy changes- flip flopping not only makes it harder for employees to do their jobs but it reflects badly on the company.

I worked at Royal Caribbean Cruises part-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

You make quick decision with a slew of international guests, which allow you to learn how to better understand them.

    Cons

It was a weekend part-time job and sometimes you only got four hours and sometimes you only got one or two weekends out of the month.

Treat your employees better, you have your awards thanks to them.

    Pros

Competitive wages and friendly environment to work in.

    Cons

When interviewing for internal positions upper management is very laxed and tend to hire friends and relatives over someone that will actually be successful in position. No feedback is given as to why you were not chosen for position.

I worked at Royal Caribbean Cruises as a contractor (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Meeting some incredible people from around the world. Traveling to places you've only read about, seeing things you never thought possible. Fulfilling work and new skill building. Everyone should do at least one contract in their lives, well worth the negatives.

    Cons

Lack of communication from shoreside. Variable contract lengths that are never consistent. Onboard management is far too hit or miss, no consistency in processes and far too little oversight from shoreside. Pay isn't great. Living situation could be improved (better rates for internet/phone access as one example).

    Advice to Management

Look at the "cons" section. Give thought towards fixing it.
