Don't drink the coolaid. This is a bank operating under fake values
Jul 20, 2022 - Consumer Underwriting Manager in Eau Claire, WIRecommendCEO ApprovalBusiness OutlookPros
If you like the way a bank is operated, this is your ticket
Cons
As one of their execs once told me "we're just like a bank, but use the Credit Union title to avoid taxes". I worked for Royal for 20+ years. In 2021 I disclosed some medical information to my supervisor who later had me hospitalized. While in the hospital I was sent a text from my boss stating "we are removing all your access to work for the next week so you can focus on your health". Upon calling to check in the following week I was terminated and had already hired a big attorney to defend themselves. Do you want to work for a place like this?

Can Be Good, Can Be the Worst. Inconsistent Leadership
Oct 30, 2021 - Supervisor in Eau Claire, WIRecommendCEO ApprovalBusiness OutlookPros
Pays some employees well. Some departments have flexible schedules. Adequate bonus package
Cons
A poor leader will cause you to dislike your job and want to leave. Some times places are moved around during their favorite thing “restructuring” and you can go to an amazing leader to one that doesn’t display their core values. No human touch at all. Some leaders talk behind your back (and get caught) but nothing happens. I talked to my leader several times expressing concerns. Talking to the leader’s leader is uncomfortable as past discussions were fruitless. Going higher seemed equally pointless. It’s a big cliché. There used to be a way to provide feedback on leaders’proformances. That was taken away because it was anonymous. The company calls for transparency without taking into account how extremely difficult that is. If we felt like we could come forward we would have. I realize that can cause some baseless comments, but please trust that we are professionals. I can no longer work for a company that I’ve always gotten stellar performance reviews at and now they are garbage. I can no longer work for an institution in which my leader lies to HR about me but no one takes what I say seriously. Note to RCU: the Leader and employee should be on equal ground in a dispute. In addition things an employee have done wrong should be addressed immediately, not given all at once with an HR person in the meeting, in retaliation for other things that happened, especially in a setting I can’t respond.

Hello, this is Heather DeNamur, Organizational Relations and Recruiting Manager. Thank you for your feedback. The inconsistencies you describe regarding leadership at Royal are certainly not what we aspire to. It appears that you chose to not follow the process of raising your concerns higher in your leadership chain, which is unfortunate. You indicate that you cannot continue to work for Royal but, if you are still a Royal team member, that process remains available to you. The annual leader feedback process you mention was discontinued when we implemented an annual anonymous engagement survey. That survey allows team members to respond to questions about Royal’s leadership, including specifically about their immediate leader. That survey also allows team members to provide write-in comments about anything they choose, including about their leader. In addition to that anonymous channel, we also encourage team members to provide their feedback directly, at any time, to enable discussion and deeper understanding about their concerns. We wish you the best in your future.
