I have been working at Royal Mail full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

thank you royal mail for your help and services that are their to maintain a strong work force. when dealing with depression and ill health , which i have used and found supportive.

    Cons

when working on the front line of the royal mail group , it as shame all that hard work can be ripped away by words . when off work due to depression that came about due to historical sexual abuse , i was told [if i m that bad book myself into a mental home and stay out of the pub ] . my partner has been ill due to sepsis that he nearly died along side he had two operations for cancer , during this time i was working and being their for him . due to me taking a day unpaid when he got the all clear , the same person on my return the next day shoed me out of the office, and said i m not payed to talk to you , when i asked about their compassion for what he has gone through, they replied they did not care. a am still under depression.

    Advice to Management

i feel lost and it would be help full for advise on this matter i have had counselling , but feel getting this reported is only going to harm me .

I have been working at Royal Mail part-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Pay is good but it is getting to the point it doesn't reflect the hard work you do.

    Cons

    Never get finished on time.
Managers try to stop you from receiving or obtaining paid overtime you are due.
You work unpaid time a lot.
You're lied to and manipulated by management.
The work that is needed to be done before you start your shift is never done on time therefore you leave from the office to deliver later than you should.
Bags you carry are excessively heavy, broken straps make it hard to carry.
You are given trollies but using them when you should would add a minimum of 30 minutes onto your finishing time.
There's a maximum amount of parcels you're supposed to take out but youre forced into taking more.
They give you more deliveries that take you past your time.
You work through your break to try and get finished, so you don't get one.
A lot of favouritism amongst managers and employees.
If you're new there is no set shift pattern and you're told at the end of the week your day of is the next week making it impossible to plan anything.
If you're part time and there's a lot of staff in your office, you're sent out to other ones.
They squeeze every bit of life they can get out you.
As it's harder to get the work done you move quicker, almost jogging, so by Saturday you're nackered so can't really enjoy your weekend.
You will pick up multiple foot, leg and back pains.
Unless you have been there over 10 years you will never have your own duty and never get full time hours.
If you lose uniform you have to wait weeks/months before you get a replacement.

    Advice to Management

    The management know

I have been working at Royal Mail full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

Good rates of pay, excellent colleagues, managers do their best (hands are tied)

    Cons

Since being privatised it's not now about customer service, it's about profits. More workload within same hours, higher management cannot see that company changes are responsible for the lack of customer service.
