    Pros

The office is beautiful and modern. Co-workers are a pleasure to work with, when you're allowed to speak to one another. Convenient to mass transit and Central Park.

    Cons

Its sad to see some of the "placed" reviews on here. The level of unprofessionalism is one for the books. Richard is inappropriate 99% of the day. The demeaning, insulting, yelling, racism and harassment are at an all time high. Funny enough, he will deny that he says things, but forgets who he says things in front of. Its a toxic environment and the turn over is ridiculous. While he can blame it on everyone not being...

    Advice to Management

Why? It goes in one ear and out the other. Senior staff are too afraid to defend their team and the only decent person we had who stood up for us in HR has left. CEO is stuck in 1950 where harassing employees and making racist or lewd comments were acceptable.

    Pros

There are some really talented people working at Rubenstein who invest a significant of time in preparing and executing plans. If you work at RPR, take time out of your day to talk with these people and learn from them. They are honestly the reason that this review is four stars.

    Cons

There's certainly some hiccups when it comes to management and the level of support they provide.

    Advice to Management

I think it's important to understand how to help your employees perform at their best and provide support from the top down.

    Pros

The office is beautiful and I truly enjoyed working with my direct supervisors. That is where the pros start and end.

    Cons

To start with, I physically and mentally couldn't continue to work for a CEO that I didn't respect as a PR practitioner and as a human being. The level of unprofessionalism was frankly embarrassing to witness and uncalled for. I've never worked at an agency where clients do not come first. Richard plays strategic games to turn his employees against each other as well. The reputation of this agency in the industry...

    Advice to Management

In order to attract and retain talent, you have to check your ego at the door. As you have mentioned before, everyone is easily replaceable. You should mind your own warning as well.

I worked at Rubenstein Public Relations

    Pros

    - While Richard can be generous with salary it is *not* worth it. If I was offered a million dollars to return to RPR I would consider it because, hey, it's a million dollars, but ultimately it wouldn't be worth it. - Some good smart coworkers. With a few exceptions though most of these good smart coworkers leave for greener pastures fairly quickly.

    Cons

    - Abusive and hostile environment - Terrible to no work/life balance - Truly unreasonable expectations - President who openly plays favorites - Mostly unimpressive client list - Workplace PTSD. Richard is quite skilled at mentally handicapping his employees. I left feeling like I had no career prospects and would be a disappointment anywhere I went. A couple years into my new job at a much more successful company...

    Advice to Management

As long as Richard and his minions continue to write false reviews of his company I will continue to write accurate ones. No one should have to endure the abuses of Richard Rubenstein. He needs to take a long hard look at himself. His behavior is unacceptable. He is the problem.

    Pros

The wonderful people you get to work with.

    Cons

This office is like Trump’s White House - chaotic and demeaning to employees because the person in charge is a big, giant baby. Richard Rubenstein’s bullying and misuse of power permeates the entire atmosphere of this organization. You’re not allowed to talk in meetings (unless you’re asked to speak), you have to laugh at all of his jokes because if you don’t, he thinks you’re being rude or making him look bad. He picks...

    Advice to Management

Why are reports from concerned employees of the bullying that goes on in this office being downplayed? How is this ok? Richard verbally and mentally abuses his employees. It's not allowed in schools. It shouldn't be allowed in the workplace either. This needs to be addressed! Stop obsessing over the bad reviews (because they are true) and take action. Maybe use those monthly "staff meetings" to apologize to your staff...
