I worked at Rubenstein Public Relations full-time for more than a year

    Pros

Offices are nice. This is the only pro.

    Cons

Rubenstein PR is a horrible place to work due to Richard Rubenstein. His treatment of staff is unspeakable. UNSPEAKABLE. His verbal abuse and workplace bullying - which I personally experienced on a day to day basis - are traumatizing and unproductive. The company’s inability to retain employees can only be matched by its inability to retain clients. This is because Richard makes unrealistic promises to clients that...

    Advice to Management

Advice to management (Richard) is: 1-Refrain from degrading, disrespecting and bulling your staff. Also, stop referring to a woman’s menstrual cycle in the workplace. It’s not ok. Like ever. 2-When it comes to clients, stop letting your mouth write checks that your... bottom can’t cash. It sets both you and your staff up for failure. 3-Treat people the way you yourself would like to be treated. Or at the...

I worked at Rubenstein Public Relations full-time for more than a year

    Pros

People who are hired to work there are the most capable I’ve seen.

    Cons

By the time these capable people who are hired to work there have been there a few months, you can see all their enthusiasm for PR and their energy drained out of them. It’s truly a suffocating place to work.

    Advice to Management

Treat your staff better because in most cases, they’re better than you are (whether you want to admit that to yourselves or not). Face the truth - there’s a high turnover because you- management- are doing something very wrong.

I worked at Rubenstein Public Relations full-time for more than a year

    Pros

the benefits are good but you wont be here long enough to use them.

    Cons

A great culture starts at the top, and the President is the most immature and toxic individual I have ever worked with in a professional setting. He has created an environment of fear and daily screaming for anything - which impacts account work, turnover and has employees walking around with a general feeling of nausea day-in and day-out. The work is so terrible, there is a long list of clients that simply refuse to...

    Advice to Management

Given the president runs the show, and that will never change, there is no reasonable advice to provide.

I worked at Rubenstein Public Relations

    Pros

There are some very interesting clients’ to work with. The salary base is high by industry standards, to entice job seekers into a lion's den. Summer hours are an added plus.

    Cons

The CEO is a micro-managing, abusive bully with unresolved emotional problems and a foul mouth. He exudes ‘bad vibes’ and unprofessionalism, often spending his days on an emotional roller coaster complete with paranoia. For kicks, he’ll bad mouth you and your co-workers (behind your back) or even worse for the entire office to witness! The VP’s and Associate VP’s are loaded up with more accounts (6-10+), then at most...

I have been working at Rubenstein Public Relations full-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

As with everything PR your success depends solely on you, if your good you will succeed. I am fortunate to work with a great team and that really cares and is qualified to do great work. Having a mentor and CEO like Richard is the best thing that happened in my career. Office culture is professional yet fun and not overly dry. I particularly like the company events and outings. Overall the company and clients...
