I have been working at Rubenstein Public Relations full-time for more than 10 years

    Pros

If you are passionate about media relations, a talented placer, self-motivated, and dedicated to providing excellent client service, Rubenstein Public Relations is a great fit for you. I have known Richard Rubenstein for 25 years and have worked at Rubenstein Public Relations a total of 17 years between three tenures. I have had a number of managers at some top global PR agencies over the years, and I have to say...

    Cons

Public Relations is not an easy profession. For those who get the adrenaline rush when they score a significant feature for a client, the stress is worth it. Like any firm, Rubenstein Public Relations comes with inherent pressure to bring your “A Game” every day to client service. There is no job in our industry that’s easy and without stress. (and if you have no stress in your PR job you may be doing something wrong.....

I worked at Rubenstein Public Relations full-time for less than a year

    Pros

    Beautiful office with great snacks.

    Cons

I witnessed Richard Rubenstein's erratic and unprofessional behavior very early on into working at RPR, but I naively believed that because I worked directly under a wonderful SVP, that I was in the clear of his tantrums and abuse. I was wrong. A little over a month into working at RPR I was personally attacked at my cubicle by...

    Pros

    - Great pay. - Free snacks. - Beautiful office.

    Cons

    - Must be a waspy, thin, twenty something to get hired here. - So many crying girls. - Daily yelling and humiliation from management. - Everyone that leave RPR ends up needing a therapist.

    Advice to Management

    Sell the company and retire.

I worked at Rubenstein Public Relations full-time

    Pros

There are some really talented people working at Rubenstein who invest a significant of time in preparing and executing plans. If you work at RPR, take time out of your day to talk with these people and learn from them. They are honestly the reason that this review is four stars.

    Cons

There's certainly some hiccups when it comes to management and the level of support they provide.

    Advice to Management

I think it's important to understand how to help your employees perform at their best and provide support from the top down.

I worked at Rubenstein Public Relations

    Pros

    - While Richard can be generous with salary it is *not* worth it. If I was offered a million dollars to return to RPR I would consider it because, hey, it's a million dollars, but ultimately it wouldn't be worth it. - Some good smart coworkers. With a few exceptions though most of these good smart coworkers leave for greener pastures fairly quickly.

    Cons

    - Abusive and hostile environment - Terrible to no work/life balance - Truly unreasonable expectations - President who openly plays favorites - Mostly unimpressive client list - Workplace PTSD. Richard is quite skilled at mentally handicapping his employees. I left feeling like I had no career prospects and would be a disappointment anywhere I went. A couple years into my new job at a much more successful company...

    Advice to Management

As long as Richard and his minions continue to write false reviews of his company I will continue to write accurate ones. No one should have to endure the abuses of Richard Rubenstein. He needs to take a long hard look at himself. His behavior is unacceptable. He is the problem.

    Pros

Nothing at all. A lot of cons and no pros

    Cons

It is sad to see all of the fake reviews that are generated on RPR’s glassdoor. My time at RPR started out as promising. It seemed as if I would have the opportunity to grow and move up to a senior position. However, after the third month of being with the company I began to witness the barbaric behaviors of the president and his loyal...

    Advice to Management

The president needs to open his eyes. His entry level staff are the most valuable. Teach upper management how to manage them better and stop blaming them. It's not their fault it's the manager. Let them have the freedom to change a few things. The market place is changing and RPR needs to change.

Amazing pay, good benefits, good clients, amazing amenities, good location with access to transportation. I had a great experience here work made me feel like I had a sense of purpose. You will have really great times at RPR, work with diverse personalities, and make nice memories with some of the most talented people in public relations.

    Cons

    Foster a more collaborative environment.

    Advice to Management

Create a clear path to advancement so new employees understand what it takes to be promoted internally.

    Pros

RPR is the ideal workplace, it sustains the energy and drive of a start-up while being in business for years. The agency is different from most PR agency's in ways of execution, partnership and client base. As a company, I think we authentically represent what it means to be the best at what we do and deliver the best for our clients, always have our consumers' best interests in mind in terms of how we have grown...

I worked at Rubenstein Public Relations

    Pros

Any potential pros are outweighed by the many, many, many, cons. They do have a generous PTO policy, but good luck trying to use the days. Most benefits at RPR are a double-edged sword.

    Cons

I will echo the sentiment expressed by most other reviews here - the worst part of RPR is Richard. He is ill-equipped to manage people or run a business. If you accept a position here expect that you will have to deal with him, and it will be absolutely unpleasant. His moods are unpredictable and when he's in a bad one, which is frequently, his employees bear the brunt of it....

    Advice to Management

Stop blaming your employees for the firm's failures. Behave professionally. Stop screaming at your employees. Personal insults are never okay in the workplace. Understand that while your employees should care about their work product and success, RPR is not their only priority or even their main priority. Work/life balance is important; respect it.

I worked at Rubenstein Public Relations

    Pros

There really are not any pros....if I had to name one, I would probably say the salary, but THAT'S IT!

    Cons

I'm honestly not even sure where to start...to sum it up, this was the WORST EXPERIENCE OF MY LIFE!!! What a mistake! Rubenstein Public Relations is nothing but unprofessional, inappropriate, and downright awful!! Everything from the people (the HR staff there is a joke- there is no one to talk to and HR has recently quit, leaving no real HR team), to the long work hours with ZERO work-life balance....I have no idea...

I am truly sorry for the experience you had with RPR. While every position may not be the right fit for each person, we do hope that you were able to gain some viable experience with RPR.
