I have been working at Rubio's Restaurants part-time

    Pros

Benefits, competitive pay, easy and fun.

    Cons

Hours aren't packed unless your a shift leader or assistant manager, make enough to pay certain obligations (not your rent)

    Advice to Management

Hire less, pack more hours into your employees. If they're not ready to work full-time, don't hire them.

I worked at Rubio's Restaurants part-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

The hours arent that bad if you have a good crew. Plus you get half off food. My coworkers were all nice too.

    Cons

Taco Tuesdays can be really bad if the kitchen crew is weak. If the manager is weak too then the shifts will never run smoothly.

    Advice to Management

Take more advice from ALL the employees

    Pros

The team is funny and easy to get along with

    Cons

The corporation is still small so don't expect much of a raise. Otherwise it's a fairly good place to gain to kitchen skills!

    Advice to Management

    Get more reliable people

I have been working at Rubio's Restaurants part-time (More than a year)

    Pros

This is the first job I have ever had and it has so far left a good impression. The manager, shift leaders, and coworkers care about the restaurant so everyone is doing their part so you have to do yours. They are really flexible with scheduling and requesting days off. So far a great job to have minus the terrible hours they offer. Oh, and you also get half off food whether on call or off.

    Cons

You don't get a lot of hours unless you have been working there for a long time. I've been working here for 2 months and only get 8-10 hours a week broken up into 3 days. I usually get sent home early because business is slow, causing me to only be there for 2 hours which is a bummer, especially on Saturdays. I've talked to the manager twice to get more hours, but so far I've only got an extra hour. You get paid minimum wage and you don't get tips even though you act like a waiter for the guests.

    Advice to Management

    Give more hours to employees!

I worked at Rubio's Restaurants part-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

It was a great first job and i loved the people and managers i worked with. Most the customers that came in were nice and understanding.

    Cons

There weren't many opportunities to advance further in the company and felt employees were over worked at times.

    Advice to Management

Keep doing what you are doing and appreciate your employees when ever you can.

I have been working at Rubio's Restaurants full-time

    Pros

Cares about the ocean and sustainability

    Cons

Cares about guest over employees- even though employees bring the guests back.

Managers are not just managers- if there are computer issues that can't be done by phone with IT they send you items and make you fix it, forget them leaving the main office to install or fix things. Oh and you don't get paid extra to be an installer!

Instead of fixing issues with the tables they add more steps to your already huge list daily to try to improve it.

Pray you don't have anything go down in the weekend.. the on call people never pick up.

You're take home after everything is said and done is not enough for the work you put in.

    Advice to Management

Take better care of your managers and team in general. No work life balance with they hours required to keep things going.
Need more room to grow so people don't feel stuck.
