I worked at Ruby Tuesday full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

Upper management allows managers at the assistant level handle their department unless, they see that you are not doing the job correctly or up to their standards.
The ability to build your own team is very rewarding when done correctly

    Cons

    Reviews were not done consistently.
Managers work towards a bonus that only the GM is eligible for.
    Upper leadership has constant turnover.
Upper leadership will take a disgruntled team members word over a tenured salaried manager.
Was let go over the phone. After 14 years of service, an actual face to face would have been appropriate.
Transfers as a manager are sometimes not approved (had to step down and serve and bartend until manager position was available)
GM takes advantage of writing their own schedule.
Never encouragement, only recognition when things are wrong.
Managers hired as managers Are making 20K more a year then those long term managers that work their way from within to get to management.

    Advice to Management

Value those team members that sacrifice time with family, who give up a quality of life to run your business. When team members break policies then, hold them accountable. Understand that not everyone will put in as much work as the next and not EVERYONE is replaceable. Gear the culture back towards maintaining happy people, with that you have what you need to run your business.

I worked at Ruby Tuesday full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

I enjoyed feeling like I was part of a family. We all looked out for one another. It's a great place to have fun and make money.

    Cons

Not a lot of room for advancement. There are management training programs, but they're difficult to break into. Also, working holidays, but that comes with most restaurants.

    Advice to Management

Keep an eye on the people who really shine. Don't just watch them come to work and leave. Look at their true potential.
