I worked at Rue Gilt Groupe part-time for less than a year

    Pros

Great company culture, catered lunch sometimes. Awesome employee discount. Mostly a bunch of really nice people working in Operations.

    Cons

So many part-time employees that never get hired full time because the company does not want to offer benefits.

    Advice to Management

Offer more FT opportunities to customer service reps instead of hiring so many in rounds. Gilt has a great culture and people are loyal to it, but sometimes CS reps get ignored entirely.

Current Employee - Customer Support in New York, NY

I have been working at Rue Gilt Groupe

      Pros

decent pay, relaxed dress code, nice free treats in employee kitchen.

      Cons

Having to field Numerous complaints about the goods that Gilt provided and not being able to offer resolutions. Just google their customer reviews.

      Advice to Management

Focus more on quality customer service and not just the quantity of the calls answered.

I worked at Rue Gilt Groupe part-time for more than a year

      Pros

There's no work to take home and it isn't extremely hard or stressful. It seems that way during training but it gets better. They let you know how you're doing and reward you when you do well.

      Cons

Not enough hours. You need a manager's approval for practically everything but they are never around to assist or don't give you a definitive response on how to handle a call. Management is either really unprofessional, seem annoyed by questions you ask, and some are even extremely passive-aggressive

I have been working at Rue Gilt Groupe full-time for more than a year

      Pros

Nice people... good employee discount. Decent stipend for full-time employees.

      Cons

Distinct changes occurred with frequency, but CS was the last to hear about it; even though CS is the first contact with the customer.

      Advice to Management

Understand and absorb the concept of transparency. You are becoming increasingly corporate in the roboticism of your operations, your lowest employees (CS) arguably feel it hardest. In the Portland office, our direct managers didnt even know what was going on; beyond the obvious posturing that eventually led to your closing the Portland office on May 15th. Nobody will have a willingness to "live and breathe" Gilt,...

I worked at Rue Gilt Groupe part-time for less than a year

      Pros

-Great snack room -Awesome products on website with employee discount

      Cons

Gilt Groupe uses a number of offices to staff their customer service operations as well as a work from home team. I was a member of this work from home group who consistently lacked management support on basic issues. Technical difficulties we constant and the IT support from the home office was both rude and unhelpful. Some of the supervisors are smart, competent people but their intelligence was overshadowed by their...

I worked at Rue Gilt Groupe full-time for more than 3 years

      Pros

Not many while working there. The occasional pizza was purchased for staff. Work life balance was awful, supervisors were operated a clique mentality, advancement was reserved for staff in the clique & there was spates of bullying from management in my time there, all of the above causing my great anxiety leading to me having to quit the job after 2.5 years.

      Cons

The company has since shut it's Irish operations & restricted us from spending the account credits we were taxed on. They now refuse to either accommodate spending of the credits worth $900 or refund the taxed amount.

      Advice to Management

Little people exist as well. This company walks over the lower levels of staff. Remember who it is that speaks with your customers on a daily basis.

I worked at Rue Gilt Groupe full-time

      Pros

      - Great annual leave. 25 days off for full time (half for part time) which include two personal days which you can take without notice called Me Days. - Good experience in terms of customer service. Best time to be employed is Christmas. It's busy so you're not bored and the atmosphere is pleasant - Health insurance with Laya

      Cons

      - Little chance to progress. Anyone "higher" than customer service has nowhere to go, so customer service have nowhere to go. Creates a very stagnant work environment. Other areas like fraud, sales and audits might have seasonal work for business needs but then you're plopped back to CS. You could wait for an opening but why would you with competition like Uber, or WP Engine? Entry level management usually has openings...

      Advice to Management

      - You have to be more creative in fostering better culture and unity between the office and different departments - cause you're letting people who made the office shine brighter dim and/or leave altogether. Just going to be stuck with negative Nancy's who only want the place to close anyway, so they can get redundancy. Staff motivation is your ROI to show appreciation and reward them, which is invaluable. Ditch the "Trocaire...

I have been working at Rue Gilt Groupe part-time

      Pros

Friendly colleagues. Free sodas and fruit.

      Cons

All the supes care about is hiding as far away as possible and their phones while stressed specialists have to do their work. One supe told me she doesn't take escalations and to get rid of the member on my own. Weekends are the worst. No one wants to do them so there is never enough staff. You are constantly pushed calls and not allowed to ask questions. HR team is the most unhelpful I've ever come across. You...

I worked at Rue Gilt Groupe part-time for less than a year

      Pros

I worked the night shift so got a 33% bonus which made my wage good for cust. service in Limerick. Staff and management were great--fair and willing to listen to staff opinions.

      Cons

Difficult to get to/from without a car for the night shift. I never really seen an avenue that staff could progress within the company beyond concierge/TL.

      Advice to Management

encourage internal advancement and incentivise targets better.
