I worked at Rue La La full-time

    Pros

Start up culture, great energy and vibe
    Amazing and fun coworkers
    Autonomy even for junior levels
    Social events
    Cool office space

    Cons

    High workload, low pay
Expectation in some areas to work 55+ hours, especially entry & junior level
Location in Boston was challenging to get to by public transit, but company did offer courtesy shuttles from both train stations (definitely helped)
Business dropping year after year, continuous head count reduction
IT/marketing stars of the company in terms of compensation and recognition

    Advice to Management

Make buyers more integral to the center of your business. Look at them as a revenue center instead of a cost center. Without them, you won't have the right products. Without the right products, you don't have a business.

    Pros

There really aren't any, they do not have sample as presented in their "benefits" Free food occassionally and drinks when people left

    Cons

Underpaid salaries and positions. This place is like a high school, bad processes, you can't even take advantage of early friday releases because there is so much to do and managers will evade trying to give out overtime like YOU want to be there-- to save their dept budgets, this is illegal btw. People are not friendly and walk around like their poop doesn't stink.

    Pros

Fun office, good people, and company does strive to be better at all times.

    Cons

Management and leadership are disjointed, often tripping over themselves, and don't seem to step up and make necessary, important decisions.

    Advice to Management

Clear the lines of communication, and stop creating unrealistic timelines and asking employees to scramble in order to meet an imagined goal.

I worked at Rue La La full-time

    Pros

Friendly coworkers + Bagel Fridays + the only place in Boston to work in fashion.

    Cons

Such a negative environment. No growth opportunities and measly bonuses. High turnover rates, I knew of 7 or 8 people leaving across different departments when I put in my two weeks. Lots of lying and gossiping from people with the title "Director". When I expressed my opinions
and concerns during my exit interview with HR, I was told that this stuff "happens everywhere" and "it's just life". No, it's Rue La La and it's not okay.

    Advice to Management

HR + Management need to address why people are leaving and actually do something about it before turnover rates skyrocket.

    Cons

Nothing even close to significant. No workplace is perfect however relatively-speaking, Rue is among the best in which I have had the pleasure of working.

    Advice to Management

    Keep focusing on your people!
