I have been working at Rue La La (More than a year)

    Pros

Only place in Boston to work if you are interested in fashion.

    Cons

    Very clique-y.
People are promoted based on who the management likes.
No matter how much work you take on, a promotion is never an option.
    Don't feel valued or appreciated.

    Advice to Management

With the turnover rate so high, so you should take the time to make your team members feel important and valued. That way, you aren't hiring new people every couple of months and having to train them.

There is a reason EVERYONE is leaving.

I worked at Rue La La full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Nothing positive to say about Rue La La.

    Cons

Horrible pay, constantly working weekends, petty people, high school drama.

    Advice to Management

You should try being straight up with your employees about their work schedules, lying about working 4 days a week then ending up working 6 really does make people angry. You should be more professional about your work environment also. I got so sick and tired of hearing my bosses talk about sucking each other's privates and other absolutely inappropriate things! It's ridiculous how unprofessional and petty Rue La La is. They do not care about their employees what so ever and they're constantly lying to them about anything and everything. Rue la la is a greedy, money grubbing SCAM. Absolute scam!!!!! Worst place I've ever worked and I'm so glad to be out of that awful company. I'm seriously amazed that they're even still up and running. I would NOT recommend ever working for this horrible company to anyone ever! I felt like I was back in high school everyday, it's nothing but cliques of snobby girls and preverted douchebags.

I worked at Rue La La full-time

    Pros

Collaborative, easy-going though fast-paced workplace, humor-filled, fun, and robust environment. My supervisors were trustworthy, problem-solving partners who promoted a culture of transparency.

    Cons

Some disorganization based on the nature of the flash sale, opportunistic buying business.

I have been working at Rue La La full-time

    Pros

Fantastic environment! Fast paced, exciting business.
    Great work/life balance.
Feeling of contribution to the company/department, that as an individual you are influencing the success of the business
    Great VP over this department
    Wonderful community of peers
    Company morale is positive
There are opportunities to participate in community events, volunteer work, and good for the greater community

    Cons

Systems are still lacking, somewhat tedious manual work
Communication between departments is weak in some cases
Sometimes execution of ideas or change in process is painful to achieve
Still a feel of a small company where lines of responsibility are more grey than they should be

    Pros

Great team to work with, excellent benefits including some unusual ones like Summer Fridays. Company is awesome with respect to work\life balance; totally OK to work from home when needed.

    Cons

Growth has been slow and steady in recent years, which is cool, but company has lost a some of the "start-up" excitement

    Advice to Management

I worked at Rue La La full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Collaborative colleagues. Work life balance is good.

    Cons

Poorly managed on so many levels... little to no training initially, and nonexistent/ lackluster communication between teams. Employees are underpaid and (even worse) under valued. Management is opaque and refuses to innovate or provide structural support (leading teams to waste time working inefficiently). Run far away.

    Advice to Management

Start actually practicing what you preach. Be transparent and start valuing your employees. You won't retain good talent otherwise.
