I have been working at Rush Foundation Hospital full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Nice facility, three/two split, great benefits packages, they have easy access to training and license renewals such as CPR and PALS

    Cons

You have to work short staffed too much. There is not a good pool of PRN staff to get to work for you in the event you need to take off suddenly.

I worked at Rush Foundation Hospital full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

I enjoyed working with the staff. They made me feel at home and were extremely helpful when I first started out. Most department heads were very open to ideas for improvement of patient care. I can say the same for working with most of the physicians. Most that I worked with were willing to grant me the autonomy to practice within my scope of professional practice.

    Cons

Dealing with administration was extremely difficult. They are not open for change even when you present them with the facts and figures of ways you can help boost revenue. Also, the technology that is used is outdated and very inefficient. Most of the staff employed by the hospital had not seen a pay raise in quite a few years, yet there was no point in time when anyone in administration was willing to take a pay cut so that their staff could be appropriately compensated. Many times floors would have to be closed due to staffing shortages. I would personally not want to be employed by this hospital.

    Advice to Management

Management needs to be open to change. They need to take a hard look at how they compensate their employees.

I have been working at Rush Foundation Hospital full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

It's a very warm environment. Everyone is friendly, and everyone speaks to each other. It is a smaller hospital with a family feel.

    Cons

There isn't much upward mobility. There are few pay increases, no bonuses, and the base pay is way below their competitors.

I worked at Rush Foundation Hospital part-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

My co-workers were very nice. The pay was decent. One day there was ice ou on the roads and my supervisor understood I would be late.

    Cons

Computer system was very outdated. They used an extremely old version of Windows. It was unnecessarily complicated, doing my job difficult. Equipment needed to be upgraded.

    Advice to Management

    Upgrade the software.
