I worked at Russ Reid Company full-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

The few decent people left at the agency.

    Cons

There is no future in the fundraising world for a full-service agency, especially one located in LA where overhead is so high. The coming years will be marked by a constant decline in revenue and reduction of staff until it eventually dies. Success will be measured by the amount of ground lost rather than the ground gained. At this point it's a matter of limiting the hemorrhaging. Working there is increasingly...

I worked at Russ Reid Company

      Pros

Jobs are really precious things, it seems. So, I really appreciate feeling that if ya feel ya know you're not quite up to par with some other people, ya know that in this culture at Russ Reid, the right people will have your back. It feels like if you give the right kinds of looks and mob up with the right kind of people...you'll be able to secure your position in the group. Just get along with the right people. I...

Not much to say here. But I guess I feel like overtime would be a good idea, because the hours are long sometimes.

I worked at Russ Reid Company for more than 3 years

      Pros

You co-workers, the people in the grind who are getting it done day-to-day, are amazing. It's cool to see results measured in lives saved and transformed.

      Cons

Upper management can seem a bit lost. There are some brilliant people in their ranks, but overall there's an underlying fear of the new or different.

      Advice to Management

Let your best and brightest rise to the top, both in management and in the ranks. You're losing too many smart people. The politics are a bit out of hand.

I have been working at Russ Reid Company full-time for more than 3 years

      Pros

Working to change the world and the people in it for the better

      Cons

Higher ups demand changes with no real implementation plan in place. Many people have left the company and vacancies aren't being filled. Culture has change drastically for the worse

      Advice to Management

Listen to people who do the work. They know what changes can work and what won't

I worked at Russ Reid Company

      Pros

Friendly, productive, fast-paced, impressive clientele, looked great on my résumé

      Cons

Old-fashioned management hierarchy, not open to many new ideas even though they're trying hard to improve, inefficient processes, data folders are disorganized

      Advice to Management

Survey new employees within their first 3 months to find out what we've observed with our common sense, before we got accustomed to all the poor processes

I worked at Russ Reid Company full-time for more than a year

      Pros

Your colleagues are wonderful, easy going, smart people that will make you laugh. Location is good. People here have good hearts and want to do well.

      Cons

The agency is suffering from major long term mismanagement. You have to wonder how some people made it to the position they're in. The DC office has lost 1/2 of the workforce due to layoffs this year. It's a sinking ship you don't want to board. Benefits aren't great. 401k only matches if the company makes a profit which hasn't been in the cards the last few years. No bonuses. Vacation is not negotiable and is based...

      Advice to Management

Evaluate your CS teams closer. Many account people have lost numerous client accounts and are given chance after chance on other business when clearly there is a competency issue. Executive management can't swoop in at the end and expect to save an account that's been slowing dying and you've neglected to notice. Majority of the people that manage the day to day have little to no faith in upper management. There is far...

Great workers. Big thinkers. Amazing team ethic.

      Cons

Management is ineffective. Status quo rules. You will advance based on WHO, not WHAT, you know.

      Advice to Management

Treat the east coast office with the same respect as the west coast office.

I worked at Russ Reid Company full-time for more than a year

      Pros

Worked with some great people. Everyone except management and above were nice to work with.

      Cons

Depending on your supervisor and department, you could be stuck working long hours and there is no overtime pay here if you have to work on the weekends or holidays. Half day Fridays in the summertime are not really a perk either. The agency makes you work an extra hour Monday through Thursday so you can leave by 1:30pm on Friday. "Summer hours" are the same hours as any other work week. You don't work less in the summertime,...

      Advice to Management

Get a clue and stop being so lazy and out of touch. CEO: I'm not sure what you're really doing, but good leadership starts from the top. Get more involved and set an example for all the other lazy managers.
