I worked at Ruth's Chris Steak House part-time (More than a year)

    Pros

The pay is okay for the mindless labor. Definitely the highest paying job for a busser unless you are in Downtown/Disney area.

    Cons

You are not expected to have brain function. And you will be treated as such.

    Advice to Management

Servers need to pull more of their slack. They'll expect their assistants to do 100% of the labor for multiple servers, while taking home two to three times as much money as their assistants. This type of abuse is ignored by management as server assistants do not directly incur revenue for the restaurant. And this goes for the kitchen employees. It's one thing to be paid barely enough to live, but it's another thing when pride in your work is the least importance to management. By working here you will understand the fundamental capitalist lesson: You are the only one looking out for you.

    Pros

Love love love the company Ruth Furtell created such an amazing company!

    Cons

Downtown Indianapolis Location is the worst location I have ever worked for! Working for taco bell was better then what this location puts you through.

    Advice to Management

Dont correct in front of guest
    Flip flop what you say
and don't treat employees like they don't know what they are doing.

    Pros

    Great Management

    Clean work envoirnment

    Good Pay

    Cons

Everyone in the restaurant seems to be miserable. Its really an easy job but most people have been there for years and seem to hate their lives. Also work is very seasonal. Went from making $800 a week to $50 after new years.

    Advice to Management

Keep up the good work. Being little more flexible with the schedule would be great.

I worked at Ruth's Chris Steak House part-time (More than a year)

    Pros

You could get lucky and land a big tipper. Otherwise it was no different than any other restaurant with bad tips and entitled jerks.

    Cons

Poor management, little to no schedule flexibility, no holidays off, mandatory Saturday shifts. While I worked there I felt like my personal life and demands had to come second.

I worked at Ruth's Chris Steak House part-time

    Pros

Training was quick but very thorough; short hours (this particular restaurant serves dinner only); most staff was helpful and welcoming; they are flexible with respect to scheduling around other jobs/school; for my situation, the tip potential would have been great!

    Cons

No cons--I found out very quickly after training that my schedule with my other job, the distance required, and the realization that upscale dining may not quite be for me, that this opportunity would not work out.

    Advice to Management

Keep doing what you're doing at the South Park location! The interview, the training, everything was professional and I feel that if I lived closer and didn't have other job responsibilities, that this would have been a great part-time job. I think I could have even adjusted well to the upscale clientele and responsibilities--my former restaurant jobs were definitely not upscale caliber, so this experience definitely intimidated me! I apologize for not being able to be a part of what I saw as a great team!
