    Pros

Great staff on MOU. The staff works as a family and team

    Cons

Rough on the surgical unit. Need more support for nursing

    Advice to Management

We need a person like Sam Helinski on surgical unit

I have been working at Rutland Regional Medical Center part-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

    Excellent Educational Benefits
    Good Docs, especially Orthopedists
    OK benefits
If you are part-time, you can have a decent schedule

    Cons

    Becoming very corporate
Small community hospital--- lots of drug and obesity related chronic patients
Management constantly changing, but changes are superficial
No help with vacation scheduling. You must find your own coverage.

    Advice to Management

Too many meetings chasing the reimbursement dollar. We are nurses, not accountants.
Claims transparency but decision are really handed down in a manner that really doesn't involve staff. Lots of favoritism.

I worked at Rutland Regional Medical Center (More than 5 years)

    Pros

The benefits are great...most of the "lower-level" people are great.

    Cons

Management places a huge emphasis on treating patients and co-workers well... constantly assessing employee engagement, contentment with working conditions, but end up treating staff poorly. Since leaving, I have heard many former employees who have had very negative experiences, much like mine. Training is inconsistent, as are expectations.

    Advice to Management

Train employees well, give them the resources that are needed for success, and practice what you preach as far as how to treat people. Take a close look at the number of lawsuits and legal actions against you as a barometer for success.

I worked at Rutland Regional Medical Center full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

There are some really great, dedicated people working there.

    Cons

Some of the VPs have been there through their entire careers and have no outside experience. They should hire competent, professional leadership teams at the top levels.

    Advice to Management

    Shake up the tyrant leaders.

    Pros

Rutland Regional is an organization that is not standing still. Improvement is continuous and focused on those who matter most: patients. RRMC supports the development of its staff and leaders through training, leadership development, staff education and tuition reimbursement (for college-level programs).

    Cons

Rutland Regional operates within a context where budgets are approved by the State of Vermont and therefore funding cuts and financial pressures are present.

I have been working at Rutland Regional Medical Center full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

Salary, benefits. Looks good on the outside looking in but....Beware.

    Cons

Heavy workload, no communication! Low employee morale. Most employees hate their jobs or their managers but have learned the hard way that our HR Dept has no power to do anything! Afraid to rock any boats. So depressing because they know they "have you" since there are no other decent paying jobs in Rutland. If you go to HR to complain or for help - forget about ever moving up or to a different dept! Black listed.

    Advice to Management

Need to clean house of poor managers...several have had numerous complaints filed with HR but no consequences. Why is this ok?? All this money spent on outside consultants to teach our mgrs how to act and how to communicate? The managers do not practice any of it. Nothing will change.

    Pros

Pleasant working environment, good benefits, plenty of parking, flexibility.

    Cons

Very demanding workload to the point where you don't have time to double check the accuracy of your work. they take advantage of tsalaried employees to the point of burnout.

    Advice to Management

Hire more people to prevent job burnout and good people leaving the facility. Get rid of the deadwood that do not perform to an acceptable job performance level. For some reason, the bad apples always drive out the good people!

    Pros

I love the people I work with

    Cons

Senior leadership is great! Middle management does not know how to lead. Most still feel that they are individual contributors. They need to step up
