I have been working at Ryan Companies US full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

This place has a lot of great people working for them. Many of the managers and employees will go above and beyond for their coworkers if they need help or assistance with something. They also promote growth in the company and reward those who put in the extra time and effort. Ryan also has very strong core values and instills these into every employee.

    Cons

Don't expect to have just a 40 hour week. The hours are demanding and can burn you out at times but your work and effort doesn't go unnoticed by your managers. While being such a large company they still have strong core values and the small family like business feel but it has started to turn more into a corporate atmosphere.

    Advice to Management

Keep up the good work and keep ensuring the employees who take the extra time and effort are being rewarded. Lets get back to that small family business like feel that has made Ryan what it is today.

    Pros

Technological resources are readily available and supported. Plus, having an in house architect is an efficient way to construct.

    Cons

Ryan Companies isn't the family, supportive culture it advertises. I was surprised at the lack of interest management had in getting to know my skills and how best to apply them. Moreover, management left me feeling isolated in the field without direction. And, when I approached them with an issue, they literally told me they were annoyed that I was bothering them.

    Pros

The people. Nothing matches the environment that Ryan employees create.

    Cons

Not many to be honest. The job itself was physically taxing, but that is what I signed up for.

    Pros

Family feel and very traditional. They are loyal to mid and upper management. Decent perks (like holiday parties and benefits).

    Cons

Very Republican (lots of closet Dems though) and male oriented.

    Advice to Management

Stay with offices in locales close to the company's roots - Ryan philosophies don't travel everywhere. And remember Jim - be like Jim more than Pat.

    Pros

Challenging, rewarding, lots of fun volunteering opportunities. Most employees I've met so far have treated me like family. Would be a good environment for someone who is relocating.

    Cons

Well this is a pro for most. But we are provided complimentary lunches and treats a lot. I believe it could be dialed back if that meant better salaries.

    Advice to Management

    No advice.

I have been working at Ryan Companies US full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Ryan Companies is growing rapidly but still maintains the feel of a small company. Ryan is in the midst of investing in all of the different technologies that are advancing the construction industry. Ryan is actively involved with the local community and still retains the family owned company feel that it was founded on. The 401K and health benefits are good. The diversity of services offered creates an opportunity to learn about different parts of the construction industry beyond just being a general contractor.

    Cons

Compensation isn't always at current industry standards.

    Advice to Management

Value your current talent and keep up with industry levels of pay. When people are willing to move for the company, demonstrate appreciation by paying them what their worth.
