    Pros

    The pay was pretty good.

    Cons

Lying management, refused to provide benefits regardless of the number of hours worked, claimed they fired me, contested my unemployment. Hired to drive, had all vehicle paperwork dropped on me. Expected work to be completed within part-time hours.

    Advice to Management

    Stop lying.

I have been working at Ryder System full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Coworkers are the ones that boost morale. High starting pay. Close to freeway. Employee parking. Must be in a union.

    Cons

Supervisors micromanage you. Ryder sells maintenance so it is maintenance heavy. Hard to move up from entry level position since you don’t learn much. The yard is sometimes full of trucks that it’s impossible to park the truck you just worked on. No weekends off. The workers who’ve been there for a while have this “ego” and it’s “my bay” mentality. Service managers don’t know anything.

    Advice to Management

Needs new managers. Leave your ego at home.

I have been working at Ryder System full-time

    Pros

    Nice colleagues
    Multicultural working environment
    Routine tasks without high pressure
    25 days leave
    Annual bonus
    Free parking
    Free tea & coffee

    Cons

Long serving staff who stick to what they know - don't welcome change
Boys club - especially the Presidents Club concept
    Not receptive to new ideas
    Creativity is stiffled
    Culture lacks drive or determination
Few 'special' people who rule the roost and can do no wrong in the eyes of management
No engagement in employee performance reviews
Culture of redundancies on almost a 6 monthly scheduled basis
Fronwed upon for suggesting change to archcaic processes

    Advice to Management

Welcome new, creative and innovative ideas.
Be prepared to engage with staff at all levels - not just the ones you've known for decades.

    Pros

If you work hard you will get results. Staying focused on doing a good job allows for great results.

    Cons

Limited growth within the company due to employees being there since high school. So waiting for the older employees to retire may open up doors.

    Advice to Management

    Great management
