I worked at Ryder System full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

Pay is decent, benefits are fair, if you are female and able to get in the cliche with management you basically just have to show up everyday to get paid.

    Cons

Seasonal work, different rules for different employees, brown nosing skills are a huge plus with management, normally new rules that they put in place only last a week or so until everything goes back to normal

    Advice to Management

Treat all employees male and female the same.

    Cons

Cardboard dust, papercuts, sometimes have to package insulation. Not a job for a career.

    Pros

It's a great company to work for. The people are like family and there is some flexiblitiy and allowance for work life balance.

    Cons

There are opportunities to advance, but not for everyone.
    They need better management.

I have been working at Ryder System full-time

    Pros

Very good immediate supervisors. They also enjoy cross training employees on various pieces of equipment. They also acknowledge hard work and leadership.

    Cons

They do not like to promote from within. They also do not pay enough or give good raises. Twenty cents a year is not a good raise.

    Advice to Management

Give people that work hard and dedicated their time to providing quality work the raises they deserve. You also should promote from within.

I have been working at Ryder System full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Independence in terms of work hours and how you manage your time/processes. Come in when you want, leave 9 hours later, make a difference

    Cons

Lots of projects and a little lack of management/tracking on some projects

    Advice to Management

Review relevance of projects; don't get too far off track

I have been working at Ryder System full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Get to work on roles in different areas under a business unit, work with multiple hiring managers, most people are hard working and want to be successful

    Cons

A lot of splintered processes that are communicated poorly, no defined training program - learn as you go until you make a mistake, now recruiters are heavily monitored, calls, interviews etc. are counted daily in meetings and only the metrics count. Little sense of business partner relationship, recruiters are data administrators.

    Advice to Management

Bring back business acumen, recruiters are not only there to plug in information and push people into buckets.

    Pros

A top company in the rental business

    Cons

Prices are high so you have to sell services and it is not that great.
