I have been working at Ryman The Stationer full-time

    Pros

A few years ago I could name you many. Now I struggle to think of one.

    Cons

Lack of communication from above means messy promotions, lack of support and an overall hindrance on day to day running of your store. Out dated systems. Once loved this job but past few years the company has lost its way.

    Advice to Management

    Look elsewhere.

I have been working at Ryman The Stationer full-time (More than 8 years)

    Pros

Plenty of options to progress through the company. You just need to show willing to learn and be keen. It's busy in london so always new things happening and to learn. If you don't have certain levels of education you can have options to further your education and career. Plenty of training available and help is there if you ask.
daily and weekly targets to work towards with your team.

    Cons

Working in retail and with current climate there will always be pressure to perform and succeed as a store. This has grown immensely recently. Could do with more support for staff shortages/sickness.

I have been working at Ryman The Stationer part-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Good quality of staff care. Flexible. Good long breaks. Caring staff who are very understanding of issues that are going on. A very good first job. A lot of good skills learnt.

    Cons

They holiday is minimal, meaning for students its hard to be able to focus on education. During A-levels it has been impossible to visit uni's due to having to work and the company isn't flexible enough to allow me to go to them.

    Advice to Management

Have an understanding towards students needing to take unpaid leave because it has been impossible to visit uni's. Give opportunities for overtime

I worked at Ryman The Stationer full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

In terms of retails it's a pretty decent place to work. Depends on your team to be honest, a good team makes the days more interesting.

    Cons

It's still retail, usual problems with customers and keeping track of everything. Plus it's was tedious. If you're in a small store there isn't a security guard so you end up swamped in customers and in trouble for not noticing the dude who stole something while you were busy.
