I have been working at S N Bose National Centre for Basic Sciences full-time (More than 8 years)

    Pros

There are not many for serious scientists. However, a lot of grants are available for experimentalists who wish to follow the institute's preferred research areas. Offices are reasonably well equipped by comparison with other similar institutes in the city.

    Cons

Not a place for the independently minded researcher, or indeed for one who seeks fulfilment in research rather than politics. Poor salaries.

    Advice to Management

Reward merit, not mediocrity and flattery.
